Hi FItin, It is perfectly ok to feel lagged behind, you have been sick. Your body needs to heal properly. You are doing awesome with the 13 miles. I am impressed. Small steps and walk walk more than run until your lungs can be at full capacity again. Breathe deeply. Keep us posted here. Good luck.

Hi there Melissa, Welcome here. Your story brought tears to my eyes and goosebumps on my arms. You are so incredible and such a fighter. Oh my gosh. I can't imagine going through that at all. I've had heart issues and have been life flighted twice with heart infections. When you lay there in the hospital or you lay there with radiation treatments or chemo, you definitely stop sweating the small stuff and look at ife way differently than you did before. You enjoy life way more and look at each little thing as a big thing. My love goes out to you and I am so Happy you are here. I am so sorry about your friend Kim. I love your kids names. Adorable. So, sounds like your runs are going good. Headaches??? Are you breathing properly? Do you feel short of breath?? I found this online and you can check it out. http://running.about.com/od/illnessesandrunning/f/headachesafterrunning.htm We are all here cheering you on on these forums. Lots of great help here. Keep us posted ok??? Check out our Accountabilty 2015 Board and you can make a fitness journal there. Good luck. Keep us posted here. Hugs to you and I'm excited you are here. -
Hi there Tasha, First, Welcome on here. So proud of you. What you are experiencing is quite normal if you haven't run for awhile. Most of us don't breath right. When we breathe we don't fill our lungs right??? Practice deep breathing. Practice breathing through your chest, not your mouth, and fill those lungs up, release. Practice that. A few times. That will help. You might get dizzy at first, but the more you fill up your lungs the easier your runs will get. You are doing fantastic. Keep it up!!!!

Hi Iblu, good for you. It looks like you found something that works for you. Your core is the most important part to work in anything you do in life. Most people don't breathe properly in everyday life. Think about it, how many of us fill our lungs to capacity when we breathe uh, no one. I love to do breathing exercises in the car. Deep breathing through your diaphragm, hold it, let go. I do that a few times. Now in the beginning, I got dizzy, lol. Not anymore. Practice that. You are doing great races. That's awesome. Hill running is so different. I live in the mountains so uphill , downhill is most of my running anyways and high altitude, I'm at 5500 feet here in Nevada. I'm used to high altitude running. It's funny when I go to like Florida and man, can I just keep on running. Like Forest Gump. I love it. I cannot wait to go to Florida in April to see my Mom and go running. Woot woot. Anyways , proud of you, you got this. Keep us posted.

Way to go Vicki. You got this girl!!!!! Way to push it!

Wow, 3rd degree black belt?, that's awesome. I am impressed. I made a comment here yesterday and it evidently didn't post here. Weird. What a great accomplishment. That's hard work and incredible dedication. These apps are great for training you and keeping you motivated. You can do it. Keep us posted here. Good luck.

Hi KO, Well, you are so welcome. I can't live without a pedometer. Look online for some strength training ideas. Look up muscle building, strength training, etc.. Ohh, there are apps too. ZenLabs has great ones for push-ups, abs, lunges, etc. those are the best. I also have an app called Maxmuscle. There are lots of apps for weight lifting. It walks you through each workout. So, what I like to do is this, one day I do only my upper body, chest, back, biceps, triceps, shoulder. One day I do lower body, legs, abs, calves, etc.., then one day the whole body body shaping. I start out with smaller weights and end with heavy weights. So if you start with a light weight, for the first reps, then by the time you get to the last reps, I am on a real heavy weight. So for 3 sets of reps I do this , first with light weights, I do 15 reps, pick up a heavier weight and do 12 reps, then a heavier with I do 10 reps. There are so many things online that you can print out. If you need some help, let me know and I can look some up for you. Thanks for asking, I love helping. Good luck.

Hi there Richo, First Welcome here. So excited for you to do this. Definitely take a rest day in between to give your muscles a chance to recover. Most of us like to do other workouts in the those days. You really want to surprise your body with lots of different exercises in order to keep it guessing, which equals more weightloss. I run 3-4 days a week. You pick whatever every other day you want to run. I go Tuesday's , Thursday's and Saturday with an extra day when I feel like it. I do night classes Mondays and Wednesday nights so if I run in the am, it kills me in class that night. So I lift weights, hike, bike, walk walk walk, kickboxing, T25 DVDs, you name it. Keep your body guessing!! When I am done for the day with app, sometimes I continue on when I feel great. Some of us need more activity than others and I am one of them. I've been teaching and personal training people for over 20 years and everyone is different. Some of us , like me, are very active, whereas, my hubby hates exercise and Is really mellow. So you go with how you feel only. If you want more, do more. Just make sure you rest in order for your body to recuperate. It will tell you when to stop. Trust me. We all need a total down day. Like sitting on our butts watching the Super Bowl tomorrow. Lol. Anyways, good luck to you and keep us posted on here. Proud of you. Everyone is so great here cheering everyone on. Hugs.

Hi KO, First let me tell you, Welcome on here. Congrats on kickboxing and losing weight already. That's awesome. I love love kickboxing and taught that for years. My favortie class ever. My tips? Get great shoes, that's so number one. If you can't run, don't stress at all, walk, and you will build up as you go. Repeat days if you need to. It sounds like you are fairy active and do you wear a pedometer while you work? I betcha you are taking lots of steps in a day. That's great exercise. Add in some strength training days too. That burns tons of calories and keeps on burning way after too. Drink lots and lots of water. Half your weight in ounces. That's 109 oz for you a day. If you can, that sounds like a lot of potty stops to me. I drink 80 oz a day. Anyways. You are doing great. Proud of you. This is a big step. But you are already working out a lot now. That's awesome. Keep it up and keep us posted. Hugs to you.

Yiu bet DeDee. Good luck to you.

Hey Mea. I do have a website called cavegirlcancook.com, I have a few recipes and I need to start updating that site more. FB page too.

You bet Ashley. After I read your comment that day and his show was in, I was like, this is for Ashley, lol. I am not a big fan of Dr Oz, but I turned the channel and this was an interesting show. I found myself not eating a lot of calories last week at all , I wasn't hungry and my calorie count was under 1000 cal everyday, not good right??, so yesterday hubby flew home and I was starving for food, he bought me a cheeseburger and onion rings and we had pizza last night, GROSS right?, well heck, because I junked out I lost a few pounds overnight, why???? Because I betcha I ate 2000 calories yesterday. It does jumpstart you. Now today it will be protein only. I don't recommend junk food but dang it , you need it sometimes. LMBO. Hugs Ashley.

Hi H4me, I don't think I could handle a chest strap. I just bought a Fitbit Surge, and it has a heart rate monitor on it. Best thing I ever bought. It is pricey but soooooo worth it. It tracks my sleep, heart rate , exefcise, steps. In love. Lol.

Hi there. I am not sure. I haven't tried it. Check and see and let us know. Download the app on the IPad. To me, I would think not, but you can click on your days to catch up. Just hold down that day til it puts a check mark on it. Hey, post here when you try it. Thanks. Happy running.
