  1. Welcome here Donohue, Sounds like you might be able to get your kids involved in being healthy. What a great role model you are for them. You can so get them involved in cooking healthy meals, walking, biking, hiking, etc.... We are all here to cheer you on, on your journey. TrishE and I are moderators here and you can ask us anything. Good luck and keep us posted here! Happy Running!
  2. Welcome here USMC_Bud. If you are in the Marine Corps, thanks for serving. My son is a Marine. Shoes that make your feet feel great are the best. I hate it when they squish my toes. Keep us updated! Good Luck.
  3. Yes, dont be discouraged at all. You are moving and thga is what matters. You can do it. Repeat your days if you like. Super proud of you!
  4. You are very welcome and you answered back fast. I do understand that in a lot of countries bread is a huge part of a diet. We lived in Holland for 5 years and we had bread and cheese every morning. But there was not a lot of processed foods at all. So, we did not have fast food. We were very slim and trim. We rode bikes everywhere, walked, worked out, etc.... Not like here in America. This country is so spread out and so are we for sitting in our cars. Lol. I would limit too much bread though. Maybe breakfast so you can burn it off all day. I find myself as I am getting older, that I like 2 meals a day and snacks. I cannot eat 3 meaks anymore. N Nice chatting with you.
  5. Awesome Ariel. You are doing amazing. Thanks for keeping us posted. You can start a Journal in the Accountability Forum. Way to go !!!
  6. You both make my day. Great Inspiration!! Keep it up. We do have a Journal forum too!! Way to go!!!!
  7. Everyones body is different. I do not like carbs and in love with protein, it is how I am made. Always have been. As a kid, i hated cake and ice cream, give me chips. Lol. So, you have to do and eat what works for you. Eating Clean is the way to go. You might thrive on oatmeal for breakfast, I cannot, give me bacon and eggs. Eat Clean and no processed foods. My weakness???, yummy cocktails on the weekend, but.............it goes to the butt and belly...................lol!!!! But ya gotta live too, so all in moderation!!!!!
  8. Hi there Mjan, Sounds like you are doing great with the running. Week 7 is an accomplishment in itself. If you are not seeing any weightloss, have you changed your diet??? High Protein Low carbs will melt it right off of you. I am in love with the Paleo WOE (way of eating), and I have been known to just eat meat for a few days and drink water to melt the weight off really fast. Hope this helps. Let me know how you do. Good luck.
  9. This is awesome. Woot woot!!!!
  10. Hi there. Welcome here. Good for you. You are moving and that is what matters. Good Luck!
  11. Hi there KTAS, I usually walk in the beginning and in the end. Then after the last 5 minutes, i stretch. You can do anything you want to do, as long ad you are cooling off. I never just stop as you will injure yourself. Hope this helps.
  12. Hi there. I use another app running in the background. Usually Nike, or MapyMyFitness, Mapmyrun, whichever one you like. It tracks, distance, time, etc.... Hope this helps.
  13. Hi KTH!! Woohoo. You are doing great!!
  14. Thanks KTH for that too. Be careful with a knee sleeve, my DR told me that he did not want me wearing one as it could cause blood clots. Wear it sparingly. (Please seek a Dr's opinion)... You are doing great by the way. Keep it up!!!!!!
  15. Hi there Determined. I was fit then, lol, but after teaching for years and moving to a place where I cannot teach anymore, well, i have gained some back. But I am dtermined to get it off. I miss those teaching days, but Inlove helping here and encouraging people. It is fun. Keeps my butt motivated too. I need that. All of my walking buddies moved so I am by myself while I work out. Inlove these forums as they help me too. I would consider myself fit, but the scale says NO. Lol. But I am like everyone else too, i have to make myself get out there and move it move it. I am so happy you are doing great. Thanks for posting your progress here. There are quite a few of us on MFP and we cheer each other on. My name is kellyannbarr1
  16. Hi TreadleB. You are welcome. TrishE and Inlove being here and encouraging others on their journey. You should feek smug and satisfied, you are doing amazing!!!! So proud of you. I made a Chart and it has my current weight at the top right and all the way down to the bottom of the weight I want to be. My picture on the left and healthy food pictures pasted everywhere. Then i cross off each weight as I Say goodbye to it. You are an inspiration here and thanks for being motivational too. I need that myself. Keep it up and keep us posted!!!
  17. Hi Jeanie, That has been a tough one for everyone. I need to email them and ask as it is a major jump and then changes again the next day. Just do your best and see how you do, you might surprise yourself. I am going to ask them. This is a hot topic. Good luck and let me know how you do.
  18. Thats great MelB. Working out to music is great as i seem to move faster with faster music. Teaching classes for years and slow music makes people slow. Fast music pumps you up. Thanks for the tip Jeanie. I will look that up.
  19. Hi there Ken. Sorry about your knee pain. Absoloutely moving is the best ever and you are moving!!! Yay. You have to be proud of yourself and wanting to be better. I have been sidelined and not running but I am walkng and walking fast and that is great, I am moving. Lift weights too. That will help in your strength. Keep us posted here and Good luck!!
  20. Hi there and welcome here. What is the SW diet?? It sounds like it is working for you. This is awesome. I hope your medical issues arw under control now and you can get into the sahpe you want to be in. You are doing great. Thanks for sharing your story here.
  21. This is great Determined. Yes i know for sure waitng to workout makes ya not so motivated but i taught exercise for over 15 years and those 5 am mornings and now not having to get up so early is awesome. I taught 6 classes a day and now to workout at my own time is soooooo great, but I would give anything to teach like that again, I live way out in the country now. Now i can craft, clean house, and go workout so not much on a schedule. Mornings are the best ever to workout , if i had to choose evenings I would never do it. I so admire and respect people who run at night or go to the gym. I used to go with ladies at 5 am. Now i barely get out bed and move by then. Ha. I am loving your motivation!!! Feels good huh? Keep going!!!!!!
  22. There you go Ariel. Music makes all the difference in the world. 132 bpm is great. Great idea of a playlist of 132bpm music. I taught classes for years and thats the beat my people loved. Thanks for sharing.
  23. These are all good ones and ive used them all and just have them running in the background. I just started using The Nike app as i was not able to login to the other ones. They are all very good ones. Hope this helps.
