I love it, love it, love it! Have you been able to find an app you do enjoy? There are many, many out there. Edit: Oh whoopsie daisies! I haven't tried the 1/2 marathon. If it is anything like the C25k ... betcha I'll keep using, AND I am always open to testing out other apps.

Oh Tee, I am so sorry to hear you suffer with fibromyalgia And equally impressed that you press on. How is exercising helping with the fibromyalgia? What differences, if any, are you noticing?

Out of shape and injured... Advice?
TheRoseWithin~Shannon replied to NadaraForLife's topic in Start Here!
Beautiful encouragement Trish. Truths I am also able to apply and practice. I loved, "...a healthy lifestyle is a marathon not a sprint." <3 Hang in there Nadara! Keep us posted please, and congrats on completing day 1! You got out there .... that is a success! If I might offer a couple more thoughts (quotes of others) that have supported me: "Progress not perfection." "It is what we do most the time that counts, not some of the time." -
Curious ... Is there a way to increase the 'Like This' quota?

Normally, if I feel that sore, I am thrilled because it means I pushed myself the day before - my muscles are creating results even if I do not see them yet. Mind you, it also meant that on occasion I over did it. Over-exerting takes some TLC, yet didn't mean I needed to miss a workout. Bar any medical issue, my trainer always encouraged me to work the kinks out with my workout routine. As my muscles warmed up, sure enough the kinks diminished and often disappeared. Hang in there with loads of patience and perseverance! You can do this!

Primal transportation for the desk jockey
TheRoseWithin~Shannon replied to Azatol's topic in Accountability Check-in
Azatol, that 'snap' I can relate to so well, (with BFL). I changed my diet and exercise on day 1 and with the exception of getting sick for a week, (mid way through) ... I stuck with it for 84 days - did not waver. It was a life-affirming/life-changing journey for me. It feels that way now. So silly, even as I wrote that last thought, I paused and a silly niggling voice popped in and said, "Don't jinx yourself!" Oh brother! Ignoring that one LOL -
Haska, your energy inspires me - Thank you! Wish I could run with you! I can't wait to hear how your next run goes. Cheers!!

This body doesn't run...or so I thought!
TheRoseWithin~Shannon replied to cendorly's topic in Introduce Yourself
Hi Cendorly! Warmest of welcomes! AWE-mazing share! What you learned about yourself is extraordinary, and terrific - character/confidence-building x 100!! I especially loved these thoughts: "I was all about the bling and the excitement of doing something I never thought I could do." That's personally empowering for me. Good for you, and Right on!! "WOW!! You mean I built up my endurance to jog for a minute without really feeling it? AWESOME!" This always tickles my fancy too- it is awesome! Each minute mastered does get easier - one minute of running (or walking) will eventually turn into 30 minutes. "Then I had another 5k just a week ago. I did Week 2 day 3 during the 5k and when the session was done, I kept my music on and finished the 5, using my watch to time the walk/jog intervals. I did my BEST time yet (shaved off 10 minutes). This plan was REALLY working, I was really jogging, even if only for 2 minutes at a time!" What a great idea! I never even considered beginning a 5k before I had completed the whole 8 weeks. Granted, I do want to finish, yet what a fun way to tackle a 5k by looking at it as one of my weekly run/walks! That's definitely doable, fun and spontaneous! This totally busts me out of my by-the-book <insert anal> modes. LOL YOU ROCK! Thank you! Your story challenges me to stay with this and to stretch personal boundaries; to step outside self-limiting beliefs of what I believe I am capable of; or what I believe I am not capable of. Congrats Cendorly ... on each and every achievement!! Cheers! ps. I absolutely/completely loved your 'so what!' "BELIEVE in yourself! If you can't jog for 60 seconds in Week 1, so what? Jog for 30 seconds and walk the rest until the next interval. KEEP DOING IT - you WILL Get better." ~Cendorly -
Hey Understudy! Warmest of welcomes! I am looking forward to learning more about you once you get your apps set up. Until then ... enjoy your first run!! Cheerfully, Shannon!

YAY! I'm looking forward to hearing about your progress on the Accountability 2015 forums Haska! And congrats on your successful loss of weight! That's awesome!! CHEERS!

Oh I'm having fun with this 'old' topic! LOL Ok, playfully consider the use of 'old' or 'older' in reference to your age. "I am old" vs. "I am older". Personally, I do not see myself as old. I AM definitely older! Big difference! Now that THAT is out of the way: Younger or older - welcome to the party! Hey Pics, come July, I can't wait to tell you HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY and CONGRATS on your 5K!!! Btw, are you interested in having a few accountability buddies? Cheers!!! *waves her cane in the air*

Gnik, I just remembered I welcomed you already! I'm slowly remembering names. LOL That said, you stand out!
-
Hi Haska and Gnik! Welcome! Hska, that's awesome that you got back out there again! Grats! Like Gnik shared, and if you are new to this, alternating days helps your muscles recover and grow stronger. Btw, how did day 2 go/feel?

I have noticed the same Val, and I agree with Trish ... it is challenging fun! Hi there Val! Warmest of welcomes! When you shared, "decided to try..." ... it made me think of Yoda. Sounds like your inner Yoda came out! He famously says, “No. Try not. Do. Or do not. There is no try." You did better than 'try'! You nailed it! Looking forward to hearing more!! Cheers!

While reading the Washington Post this evening, I ran across this article which made me chuckle, and I couldn't resist sharing. Why? Some very brave folks here are running in negative degree weather. Fear not! There is a bright side to having frozen eyelashes and icicles hanging from the inside of your noses! LOL I hope this link works. Enjoy! The good news about really cold weather? It can help you lose weight ...

So true! And thankfully it does not get easier and instead remains a challenge. When I first started, I thought this might be too easy. It's not! LOL What does get easier is that first minute, and those minutes add up. It was definitely easier running a minute on W2D1. I was pleasantly surprised, "Good girl!" I told myself. hehe However, running the full two minutes remained a challenge. It'll get easier and easier over time and soon I'll nail that 30 minutes!

Thank you Helia!
