darn it .... I wanna 'like' posts more than I am allowed LOL So enjoyed reading this thread ... it reminded me of the below book. That said, congrats on all achievements and future goals to achieve! I'm so eager/excited to hear how each person does! This is the book I read that jumped started my desire to get healthy again. It's solid, not fluffy or new-wavy at all: SPARK It goes in depth in regards to the transformative effects of exercise on the brain/body. There are a few stories, much like Azatol shared, where complete healing was experienced. In my opinion, it is a wonderful read. I have the audio and have listened to it three times so far. So much to take in. -
Cjen, Dharma and Blonde ... HI!!! The more the merrier! Can't wait to hear your experiences and successes!!! CHEERS!

Hey Aus!! Warmest of Welcomes! You've come to the right place ... these forums are packed with inspiration, tips and so much more! Hope to hear how you progress! Cheers!

Absolutely with you from afar, yet very very near in heart Whittle! Loved what you said, "I'm gonna do for myself and my "me" time will be focusing on working out." Right on! In regards to finding time: From past experience, I noticed when I made time to exercise, it ended up feeling as if I had time for everything else and my attitude was better to boot! Can't wait to hear when you begin! Hope you check out the Accountability 2015 forums and keep us all posted.

That you are focused on what you can do totally keeps me motivated -pressing on in spite of and because of!!! WayHAY to go Azatol! Yep, I wanna be like you when I grow up! teehee Keep at it! I hope to hear what you can continue to work on even if it is not running On the bright side, *Cheshire cat grin* ... it gives us newbies a chance to catch up to you! LOL -
added w1d3 at the top of my original post in order to keep it all in one spot. I'll change the subject title each run. I look forward to reading my progress, as well as keeping ALL thoughts shared - in one thread - for inspiration and tips now and later! "Stay the course, don't think about what others think - think about how much you are doing for yourself." Thank you Soculese!!

I hate running
TheRoseWithin~Shannon replied to OneFitHoneyBadger's topic in Accountability Check-in
OneFit, In spite of and because of all that you have been through, I am excited for you. I see a woman willing to take one tiny step forward and then another and another. I also notice your life-affirming humor! It is a must to laugh at ourselves at times, right! I am inspired; I am moved and I am also reminded to enjoy my small steps because they sure do add up! Thank you. You are a perfect example: · (paraphrasing what you wrote) Week one I started one block walking. Week 2, I was one block jogging, and then one week later I ran the Golden Gate Bridge! I was so exhilarated! I kept at this for 4 months and overtime I lost 45lbs! · “Taking my life back one mile at a time…” · “Right now I finished w1d2 and I can hardly breathe. It feels amazing ….” First of all … CONGRATS on w1d2!! You’ve already proven you can push past areas you strongly believed you disliked (running) AND you have certainly overcome the disturbing and shocking loss of a friend. I have no doubt in my mind you can overcome Fargo North Dakota’s bitter cold, your withdrawals and depression. Why? Cuz … you’ve already taken the first two steps. J I’m wearing big girl panties too! Mind you, it’s not as cold, yet my eyelashes froze on the first day, I sounded funny when talking; I was fearful I wouldn’t feel a snot-sicle forming , and I just finished W1D3! Can’t wait to hear what steps you take next! <3 CHEERS! -
Hi Shaa! Awesome! Can't wait to hear how you do!!
-
Speaking of frozen ... I said to my 15 year old son on Monday, "Hey honey, my nose is numb. If you happen see a frozen icicle hangin' from the inside of me nose ... feel free to take a whack at it! I won't mind at all!" He rolled his eyes. *snickers* Frozen eyelashes feel so funny! So excited to run tomorrow ... it snowed last night!

Hi Sharon! YAY! Don't you love it when you surprise yourself with something you thought you absolutely wouldn't like, and instead it ends up shaping a whole new you - in so many ways! Excited for you! And yes, I hope you start posting more of your workouts in the Accountability 2015 forum! Can't wait to cheer you on and be cheered on!!!

Day One-Stepping Outside My Comfort Zone....
TheRoseWithin~Shannon replied to a topic in Introduce Yourself
Tim, good for you for listening to your body! Seriously! How many times do we (I) ignore an injury that needs our undivided attention, and keep pressing on only to slow ourselves down in the process. I learned in the past to pace myself when hurt and/or focus on the body parts I could when injured. Besides, setbacks teach and build character, right! "Progress not perfection". It made me giggle when I read that you are not really wanting to compete against other people. I thought, "Egads! Me either!" Competing against myself is challenge enough! LOL This will suffice. That said, in high school I was a sprinter and LOVED competing against peers. Today, I simply want to engage/participate and enjoy myself and others, along with improving my life (mentally, emotionally, physically). A 5k, 10K, 1/2 Marathon and yes, a marathon is definitely dancing within. Having read only a few of your posts and seeing how far you have come ... I can imagine you writing about your completed marathon in the future. Your experience inspires. Thank you! -
Congrats Terry!!! "Life is too short to miss the important things, so got to get moving!" You betcha!! Moving being the operative word! LOVE IT!
-
Right on Jessica!! Can't wait to hear more! <3

You can do it Kelly!! I loved what Tim shared and feel it is a vitally important reminder, (especially for me) "Take your time, and look at the small goals. Trying to look from W1D1 to 13.1 is a big jump. Just look to get to the next day and the next week of the program, and you'll do great!" And Kelly, I would love to hear how you progress. Hope you check out the forum Accountability 2015! Amazing support from other members and a way to keep your progress all in one spot! Lastly, the most important and empowering part of your sentence, for me, is in red, "but I really really want to prove all my doubters wrong, and more importantly prove to myself I have it in me." Yep! The MOST important person you need to convince, is you. Let the rest go. Their doubt about you, (assumed or actual) is about them, not you. Self-doubt is more powerful, or more dis-empowering than any doubt coming from outside influence. Besides, your success is and will be proof enough! <3 Cheers!

Amanda, you gave me goosebumbs!!! You are an exemplar of pressing on - in spite of and because of!! Honestly, I had to giggle while reading as I could so relate to what you were feeling - been there done that, and still do that on occasion. LOL In the past especially, I would fret and worry about step 10 long before accomplishing step 1 OR I'd worry about how I would feel AFTER, before even beginning or completing. LOL So silly of me. In your case, you were worried about how you would feel (dissapointment) before you had even begun or finished. Nevertheless, you persevered - in spite of and because of your fear of what you 'might' experience - and achieved success! I sure feel good about what YOU achieved and have continued to achieve! Definitely! Thank you Amanda! WayHAY to go siSTAR! Congrats to everyone else too! Energized after reading these posts! CHEERS!

W1D1 Success!
TheRoseWithin~Shannon replied to TheRoseWithin~Shannon's topic in Progress & Success Stories
Hi Huk! I'm delighted to meet you! In spite of and because of your slippery running shoes .... Congrats on W1D1! Right on! I'm looking forward to a new pair of running shoes too! First, this is my first C25k experience. I am loving it! I know from experience that baby steps - as I stay with this - add up quickly, even with occasional setbacks. It is what I do most of the time that counts, right! Second, in the past when I first started a new routine, I would have days where I felt/was very tired. I understood that my body was adjusting so I did my best to work through the tiredness without judging how tired I felt or wondering if this was worth it. "Be patient." "Notice don't judge" and "Hang in there." were consistent self-encouragements. I learned to listen and to trust my body, (I'd take a power nap or hit the sack a bit earlier if needed). Over time I begin noticing I was energized throughout the day AND also fell asleep very quickly. Later, if unusually tired, I would question my water intake and what I was eating and adjust as was needed, (I was healthy so I did not need to worry about anything medical). Today, I am using what I learned in the past and applying now. So far, I've been energized. That said, I know there will be days where I am unusually tired. That's ok. Third, Winter Brrrrrrrr Buddies unite! LOL Likewise, I am thrilled to see so many winter running folks! Right on! We might have frozen lips and runny noses but we are out there literally running our frozen batooties off! Fourth, I did W1D2 yesterday, and will do W1D3 tomorrow. Week one almost down! Fifth, have you checked out the new forum, Accountability 2015? Hope you visit and continue to share your progress. I'd love to hear how you continue to run RIGHT through winter and into summer!! Cheers! -
Taking the distance up in 2015
TheRoseWithin~Shannon replied to Timb113's topic in Accountability Check-in
I am inspired hearing what you have completed so far Tim, and excited to hear how your journey continues to unfold! Smiling! -
I cannot 'like' anymore posts today ... I've reached my quota! Made me giggle ... that said ... love all responses - so encouraging! and Missy .... "... So lots of reasons not to exercise......but I don't want to see it that way anymore!" Right on! The beginning of an empowering re-frame! Geeze, with ALL you are doing I can't imagine exercise NOT being a part of your life - for sanity alone! LOL Can't wait to see how you continue to re-shape your body; your mind, days and life with C25K! And really, C25K is a tool only- a great one. It is what is within each of us that gets us going, and reading what you wrote I can see how driven you already are. You'll nail this with your innate inner drive to succeed! So exciting!! That said, I'm hoping they find a reason for the pain, AND I am hoping that working out will aid in working out some of that pain over time. Congrats on W1D1!
