The 10K app will help with your 5K run; I've seen a step change in my 5K pace even with 2 minutes of walking.
-
Super!!! That is great, you should be proud of the commitment to yourself.

Welcome. I'd recommend taking it slow and, if you feel you need extra time repeat a session. Get a comfortable pair of running shoes (a good athletic store should be able analyze your step to help you figure out what shoes are the best). Read up on the running techniques sticky. Stretching helps me out quite a bit. The most important thing is that you keep with it. Best Wishes, Rob

Welcome and congratulations!

Hi Tyler - good luck. This program works very well

Ruthie, I do the same thing when I have back to back days, I dial the second day back.

I prefer running in the morning because it's the only time I have free...unless you count chasing around 1 and 3 year old as running. Aside from that I also prefer it since in summer it is cooler

The pace definitely comes around when endurance picks up; I'm on W10 of the 10K app and the time drops off of the 5K segment of the nominal 10K run. On each run in week 10 I set new best 5K personal records.

Completed the 5k program last week - the story continues

Great Story. -
It went well during the first 5 K, I shaved off 1: 36 minutes relative to W10D1. In the last 3 K, I shaved off about maybe 30 seconds. My knees feel great.

Welcome and good luck. Since I've been running, I have lost 17 lbs in 9 weeks by watching what I eat; the running has improved cardio vascular health immensely - I'm running 5K in 30 minutes, before I started I could maybe run 1 to 2 K w/o having to walk.

Repeated week 7 - ready for week 8 now

Good job in getting to Week 8. It is a great accomplishment. -
It is pretty daunting to start up a new program. Yesterday, I observed 60 to 70 year old woman jogging. She was doing really well, going at a good pace. My reaction was good for her. I gotta believe getting out is the best thing you can do and most people will be in your corner. At first, I was a bit self conscious about running in public. I have gotten over this. Also, I recommend signing up for running clinic or evaluation. This will help you avoid injury. Best Wishes, Rob

I ran W10D1 on Saturday and took Sunday & today off. In lieu of run I walked the dog for about 12 k. With the transition to longer runs, I've been paying attention to the soreness I feel. After a longer run, my thighs were sore (no big deal); but my knee was a little sore just below the knee cap. This was unusual for me. I feel it's better to take an extra day off than aggrevate it. Today, it feels normal (took 200 mg of Ibruprofen). How do others handle these situations?

Welcome back. Rob

Good luck, I'm rooting for you!!

Good job. The program really works...I'm on week 10 & could run a whole hour but I follow the program.

Hi, a running club sounds like a great idea. I have similar demands on time so I run early in morning on week days; maybe able to spend a weekend day with a club. Rob -
Metallica....to pop music

They sure are; they can turn a "I don't want to do this run" into the best one
