  1. Complete week 6 today!!! It was an interesting session; my little ones woke up during the night and I couldn't fall back asleep. I almost decided to push it off but didn't. I'm really glad that I didn't because I would have tired and mad at myself (for pushing it off) instead just tired. The run went well plus it cleared my mind up (which helped get through the work day).
  2. Good on you for taking the first steps in the journey. Rob
  3. I've started the 10k, yet. Once I wrap the 5k, I'll roll into it. The 20 min block in W5D3 was a challenge but it did make the two 10 min blocks seem a bit easier.
  4. The Fitbit is a great tool. Being a numbers person I love the feedback. Rob
  5. Enjoy the program and be patient; you will see the results come. Rob
  6. That is wonderful and good luck with the half marathon.
  7. I'm glad to hear that you made it through. 8 weeks is a short time when it comes to getting in shape; so avoiding injury is so important.
  8. That is an awesome feeling....makes you want to run some more!!!
  9. Finished week 5 this morning. I ran all twenty minutes without stopping even though I wanted to....used the street lights as mini goals ("I'll stop for a moment once I get past it"....then I reset the goal until I reached the cool down). My pace wasn't where I wanted it to be but it'll come, hopefully. During the last month, I've been logging everything I eat and managing portion size which has helped me to lose 8 lbs; I don't like dieting so this has worked well for me.
  10. I hope you have fun with the program and to take comfort in knowing that you are doing something special for yourself. Rob
  11. The same feelings have developed for me; I really look forward to running especially on the weekend when i run both days. Getting an activity watch that measures Max VO2 and records distance/fastest mile has made it entertaining, sort of like a game.
  12. Finished week 4 today. It went very well in spite of have of some technical problems. My family has been very supportive. Each run has been a little faster and I've noticed the shin splints have gone away. I can feel that my cardiovascular efficiency has gotten better (less lactic acid building up). Mentally I look forward to running each time I go (in spite of have to run at 4:50 am).
  13. Good luck, Sam. I use an App (MyFitnessPal) to keep track of my diet. For me, tracking this helps with food selection and portion size. It looks like you're on the right track to make changes. Rob
  14. I've lost 4 lbs over the last 4 weeks through portion control and recording it in MyfitnessPal. Getting a solid 8 hrs of sleep is also helping I believe.
  15. Good deal...just wrapping up week 2 tomorrow myself
  16. Thanks for posting up the thumbnail, Jeshi. Are the shoes you run in are minimalist style? I've read they help with running properly since an over stride would be painful whe running barefoot.
