  1. Hi Kristy Sounds like you are at the same point at. I'm wrapping up the 1st week (wk 9) of the 10k app Rob
  2. Sounds like you are off to a good start. The time passes quickly; you'll be surprised at the progress you've made.
  3. It is daunting at first when getting started back up. The app ratchets it up a way that is "just" right. I'm on the 10K app and noticed my pace and endurance have improved significantly. I started watching my diet which has helped out, too. Good Luck, Rob

I was initially insecure also. I generally run pretty early in the morning which becomes my time because no one else is around. Now that some of the weight has dropped off, I feel much better about myself. The best advice I can give is to have fun with it & go at your own pace. Make sure you have good running shoes.
  5. Good deal; I struggled with pace at beginning too. Initially, every minute was tough. It's getting easier for in spite of lingering cough I have. Hope you reach your goals & have fun.
  6. It is pretty intimidating....just find a good pace and you'll finish it.
  7. I think it's really good idea you have to set up a definitive short term goal like you have. I believe you'll be pleasantly surprised. Good Luck, Rob
  8. How has the gear helped out? Hopefully your knees are doing better.
  9. That is super. Just being able to run for 25 minutes is huge. I'm happy for you. Rob
  10. Good job with finishing week 4.
  11. Super!!! Week 5 Day 3 is a huge milestone.
  12. Welcome aboard I think you'll surprise yourself if you go for it. After the end of week 1, I had the desire to watch my diet. By week the end of the second week I had lost a couple pounds. Around that time, I really had a strong desire to run. Blink of a eye... Now I'm starting the 10K program. I've lost 6.4 kg/14 lbs; I'm running a 30 min 5K (less than 24 min is my goal). Mentally, I feel a new clarity which came from the improvement in self esteem. I have more energy for my two small children (I didn't want them to have a tired old man for dad). Since I've started, I have watched less than 6-7 hours of TV. You can do it!!! Be patient and give yourself this gift of fitness.
  13. Knocked out W8D3. Starting week 9 of the 10K program. My 5K pace is off a bit...but it'll come around. I'm very happy that I was able to complete what I set out do.
  14. I run T, Th, Sat & Sun. Sometimes I dial back on one of the weekend days.
  15. Hi Stephanie, I hope you are successful in making the change to get more satisfaction in life. I believe you'll notice changes fairly quickly. Rob
  16. Welcome; I hope you succeed in reaching your goal and having fun. Sounds like you're getting great support from your hubby.
  17. My pace was off, also. Once you have a day where you are running less distance, try some intervals (1 min fast pace 1-2 minutes jogging or walking). This has helped me push my pace up.
  18. Finished W8D1...ran all 28 minutes. Didn't feel out of breath or burning in my lungs.
  19. I had taken Thursday off due to a cough. Came back and ran 1 mi (1.6 km) yesterday. Didn't seem to have any lasting negative consequences. Does anyone have any advice? I'm concerned that taking too much time off will derail the momentum I have right now.
  20. Welcome!! I also came back to running. This time around for me it's the main activity I do instead of an after workout cardio core.
