  1. 3 weeks isn't that much. Not enough time for atrophy. Welcome back.
  2. My best suggestions... 1) get some awesome music loaded on your phone! 2) RUN! 3) Have fun! Number 3 is really important.
  3. Way to go. Leveling up your life is awlays a win!!
  4. Some days you're the windshield and some days you're the bug. Unfortunately, I was the bug today. Shoulder has been botherring me for weeks. It's getting worse. Doctor said I injured something up around my traps. Most upper body stuff is now a now a no for possibly up to a month. Also on prescription NSAIDS. This throws a serious monkey wrench in my learning to perform the clean and jerk I'm down but I'm not out. I can still run, squat, push ups, planks, lunges and possibly deadlift. FIGHT!!
  5. HAHA no. They had a pre release and haven't began mass shipping so people who got them early are trying to resell and gouge. They are 249.95 on their website and it's likely to be awhile before I fund one. I agree the steps are high but I do 13k steps a day + to make sure I've done 10k. They say it's an activity tracker. I think moving around counts as a step in their book because it has the same benefits. I also wear it because my insurance company gives me 15 points a day for 10k steps and they sync with Fitbit. 1500 points ( and I get points for other health things ) = 25 dollar Amazon gift card!
  6. As you already know, I'm essenmtially Paleo. Technically Paleo + Dairy(possibly plus a small amount of occasional bourbon). I eat an Activia each day + cottage cheese. Much protein for building stronger muscles!!
  7. Way to go Shaa!! But make sure to take tomorrow off. Nothing high intensity. Walking is cool but no running! Your body needs time to heal and it's the rest day when you build strength.
  8. It keeps the time and tells you when to run and when to walk and when your done. It has a built in music app. it will mute the music when it has to prompot you for something. You can actually start day 1 and check it out and then do it again when you actually run. You wont hurt anything.
  9. Welcome and good luck with the program!!
  10. Hang in there Missy, It doesn't actually matter if you do 60 seconds of jogging. All that matters is you jogged a second or two more than last time. If not, it was a bad day. We all have them but withoiut the bad day to set a baseline you wouldn't know how to feel so awesome on a good day. It's just about doing a tiny bit better than yesterday. You can do W1 D2 as many times as you need until you nail it and again, each time you repeat it, just increases the joy you will feel when you nail it. You CAN do this if you want it bad enough. I think you've got fight in ya!
  11. Sounds like you have some good reaosns to do this. Welcome to the party!!
  12. That's my story exactly Sharon!!
  13. I wish my attitude were actually that great but it's not. I don't need to run. I gain all I need from diet and lifting. Running is pure entertainment for me. It's like looking forward to going bowling or playing volyball or Forza 4 on Xbox 360. I'm just excited for my entertainment <G>
  14. Outside is where you will run your first 5k so outside is the best place to run, then indoor track, treadmill and I guess if you can jogf in place why not. ANYTHING is better than sitting on your butt!!
  15. It was chilly, windy, dark, gloomy, damp, and I enjoyed every minute of it!! Week 6 Day 2 is in the books. No more walking breaks. I actually had a rather difficult time today. My calves were really upset and the last leg of my run was directly into a headwind. We made it. I'm ready to advance to the next level. Gonna run a few errands ( gotta meet my free range egg supplier ) and then it's off to the gym. Squat day!! FIGHT!!
  16. I leave them in my gym bag. I hate wearing them when I exercise. Glasses + sweat = lame. Additionally, they interfere with my wrap over the ear headphones. If this isn't an option I'd suggest you check out a motorcycle shop. They sell anti fog stuff for riding glasses and helmet face shields that I beleive also helps prevent freezing.
  17. Anyone got one yet? I've worn a Fitbit for over a year now. Was wearing a flex and now a charge but this new Surge has me drooling. Fitbity, watch, semi smartwatch and GPS watch all in one. MUST HAVE Anyone got one yet? Waiting to see how accuratre the GPS is and if the step counter matches the accurace of the others.
  18. Wow Missy, I'm impressed with you. Being able to post your bodily measurements, in a coed forum shows bravery and dedication. You may not realize it but your a woman who's (at least partly)comfortable in her own skin. I do the same on my fitness forums but it's a men only forum. I'm no longer self conscious about it though. Add in that your a mom, wife and pushing for an education. You're a woman chock full of dedication. I'm confident that we will watch those numbers shrink. The only numbers I expect to increase are the size of your smile, your endurance and your confidence. You have a recipe for success. I'll be watching this one!
  19. That's right. 2015 is not the year for IFs. It's not IF you will change your diet, it's WHEN It's not IF yoiu will run a 5k, it's WHEN It's not IF you will feel better about yourself it's WHEN IF you have the mental fortitude to forge ahead with this change, you will know it was the right decision WHEN you see the results <G>
  20. It must be wonderful to have a running partner. I can't claim that unfortunately but I do at least have some wonderufl scenery to run in and as soon as my C25K official training is done, I've got 16 gigs worth of jams on the iPod that will have to suffice . I technically have a friend to run with but she's a marathon runner and um, I'm not quite up to speed ( literally ) to run with her HAHA. WTG on W7D1. It's kind of cool to have someone 2 days ahead of me having success. Just makes me more confident of my own coming sucess.
  21. Well here we goi! This will be my accountability log. I figured I'd start it out with a bit of a bio and where I'm at. I'll add my first run today... The name is actually Mike. My parents weren't cruel enough to name me Azatol. I drive a desk for a living. I test computer software used in the financial industry. It's a very "sit on your butt" type job. I'm a 47(Ok next week I will be) year old bachelor who spent 46 years being lazy. In 2014 I started my transformation and have lost 88 pounds. I eat Paleo, lift weights, walk 10 thousand + steps a day and now I run too. I feel better about myself and finally feel comfortable in my own skin. I've completed up to Week 6 Day 1. Today will be W6D2 marking the last time I get a walking break. I'm actually excited about this. I've been walking for years and consider my training with that to be pretty much done <G> So my biig why for running: it's not to lose weight. I've achevied all that before running. It's not to save money on gas. This one is easy. Tried a 30 second sprint on a treadmill and gained instant joy from it. I've been running ever since. In the 2 months I've been running I've yet to say "Ugh, I gotta go run". It's always more like "Just one more hour and I get to run!!" So when you ask me how hard of a battle it has been and I tell you it's been fairly easy, understand it's actually been quite a challenge but it's a labor of love and something you enjoy is always easier to do So without further delays, and in the all mighty words of my ancestoirs.... GRONK RUN!!
  22. Self judgement and doubt during your run are good signs. Think about when you're really really pooped and your tank is empty. Do you form thoughts or just vegitate wishing it would end? If your mind is able to wander and drum up your inner fears, then that tells me you're body is not at its limit. I call this a win!! Your adapting to the training. As your body changes and adapts further, your confidence will grow. You'll no longer get those negative feelings. You'll be too sidetracked thinking about what you'll conquer next. Keep fighting!! I can see the passion in what you type.
