  1. Check this out... http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2015/01/26/why-you-need-to-be-selfish-and-put-fitness-first/
  2. Yep. Mine does the steps, calories, stairs, sleet track, distance. Just doesn't do heart rate and GPS. Today I discovered Humana Vitality has the Surge now. I'll be able to get one free if I decide to burn the points. Just wish I could run so it's worth buying LOL.
  3. Your body can't tell time. it's your mind L:) Read this..... http://forums.zenlabsfitness.com/topic/1446-get-your-hands-off-that-phone/ I swear it works!
  4. You know your blood pressure goes down when you exercise not up, right?
  5. Throw your towel over the treadmill screen <G> Way to go!
  6. Sounds like it will be a piece of cake for you. Congratulations on your accomplishments ion martial arts!!
  7. Overall my rib pain is worse today. Getting out of bed was/is very difficult. Turning over from my back is excruciating. Still under restriction from going anything other than slowly.... Stationary Bike: 11 min @18mphWent to the gym... Treadmill: 30 mins @2.4MPH Preacher curl machine: 3x5 @60lbs Triceps pull down machine: 3x5 @50lbs (I usually do all free weights but need to isolate any muscle group I work from the ribcage) Stretching.... Piriformis stretches are hurting my ribs today. I could probably use a belt but getting on my back hurts and rolling back over is pretty traumatic. I'm not sure what I should do here. Emailed my PT. Calf Stretches: 3x:30 Ribcage Self-mobilization: This is back to the on my back thing. Should I be doing this with the level of pain I am enduring to get back up? Emailed my PT
  8. Yes you will probably be sore tomorrow. That's a good thing. It's called DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness). It's the feeling of your muscles rebuilding the damage you did to them today. Each time you run, you tear muscle tissue and it regrows stronger. Embrace that discomfort. It will decrease over time and it's the feeling of leveling up your game! One day you'll feel fine the next day and will be asking why you have no DOMS because you've become a soreness junkie hooked on that feeling LOL. It's ok. Doesn't always happen. Doesn't mean no progress is made. Congratulations on starting your journey.
  9. PALEO!!!! Don't go on a diet, change your diet. Paleo is amazing! Guaranteed weight loss.
  10. GO GO GO!!! Once you get rockin it's fun.
  11. Oh. I had to go to Dicks and buy an Under Armor compression shirt to be able to walk with less pain.
  12. ....and the new fight begins 11 mins stationary bike 30 mins treadmill 2.4 mph That is all I have to ability to do outside of my physical therapy stretches. Had my first full PT appointment just a bit ago. First he worked on my knees and then we worked on my rib cage. The knee part went well. My flexibility is increasing but not where we need it just yet. On the rib cage it was out of control. We went way past my pain threshold. I'm a pretty tough man but there were tears rolling down my face. IMO 12 heavily bruised ribs gives any man a pass to cry LOL
  13. Kelly so yes the back light turns on so you can read it at night?
  14. Hope you feel better soon. I'd really consider getting the knee looked at. Most important, if it hurts DO NOT PUSH THROUGH. Knees don't care for that approach. Stop, walk, call a ride, etc. Don't keep running once you're hurt or you'll make it worse.
  15. Ashley, Good luck in your battle. Your young and I assume fairly healthy ( you didn't elude to anything different ). You will have no problem completing the course if you defeat the one enemy ahead of you. Your own mind!! Win the mental game and win the race, if you will. Diet isn't a necessity but a proper diet will absolutely accelerate your wight loss. I, like Kelly, am also living the Paleo lifestyle. I have injured shoulder, knees, rib cage and can't do pretty much anything right now yet I still dropped a pound last week. Start running, enjoy yourself and just keep it in mind. You don't have to make every change today
  16. Ladies, I think this program is for you but I don't want to fool you. It will be a fight. Are you game for a fight? I'd strongly consider you also work strength training in. Especially for that lower body. Also make sure you stretch EVERY SINGLE TIME after your runs and workouts. Lookup stretches specific to running. Finally, listen to your body. If anything hurts, Stop. I don't mean my calves are burning from soreness or I'm pooped. If something is wrong. STOP. Aside form that, FIGHT!!! I did.
  17. I'm on my third. I had a Zip, then a Flex, now a Charge. I also have the Aria Wi-Fi Smart Scale. I've been watching the Surge waiting for a few things.... 1) Reports on the GPS receiver's accuracy and reporting 2) The back-light to work. Have they got that fixed yet? 3) The ability to run thus justifying owning one, LOL
  18. Welcome to the battle. Shannon pretty much covered the spirit. When I finished the program I was not able to do 5k in 30 minutes. I was however able to run the needed 34.5 minutes to run 5k
  19. Just take it slow and easy and be patient! If you want to drop the weight, diet is 80% of the game. Running is just the icing on the cake. Some of us prefer the Paleo diet. It's as fast way to improve all of your numbers.
  20. You're doing great. The only one you're in competition with is yourself. Did you run a little farther than last week? WIN!
