    felt a pop

Sorry to hear about the pull - definitely ice it to lower the inflammation. The foam roller can work wonders too, so if you see one on sale, grab it! Your leg muscles will thank you.
  2. Great job Jeshi! One other thing to consider as you're running is if you're running the same location all the time, consider running on the other side (unless you're running against the flow of traffic, then you'd want to run the opposite direction). Perhaps the same curve/contour of the trail/road is having some effect on foot fatigue? Sounds like you're doing a fantastic job!
  3. Welcome! The best pace when starting out is one where you feel like you could still hold a conversation. You want to work at building endurance and slower pace allows you to run longer. Great job!
  4. Everyone has got this! Great job and keep running!
  5. Great job! Glad to hear that your injuries are subsided and aren't flaring up. Sounds like you're getting back to pre-injury form!

    felt a pop

Sorry to hear about the injury! Hopefully it's just a pull...but be sure to have it checked out if it doesn't get better. I've seen compression sleeves for lower legs to help with shin splints and calf pain...might be something to consider once you have a clean bill of health and your body tells you you're ready to continue.
  7. Yeah, like Anne said, moderation. Think of it in terms of calorie intake. If you estimate about 130 calories a glass (6 oz), you can see how it can add up. But live life too! You just have to realize that the more in, the more you'll have to work for weight loss.
  8. Hope the run went well! Welcome and way to go!
  9. Loved getting my first running shoes (wish they were flashier, but still loved it). It was amazing how perfect they fit when trying on shoes...like they were meant for me! Have fun showing 'em off and breaking them in tonight!
  10. Just like Trish said, give it a try. Slow and steady and see what you can do. You'll be surprised at what you can do at this point. Remember your breathing and pace and you can do it!

    New here

Welcome and way to get moving! Sounds like you've got some great advice and the right attitude!
  12. Nice job! Glad to see you're on the regular move again and pain free.
  13. You're doing great! Way to go! Great to hear your story...you'll be (and already are) the inspiration of so many others to come behind you. Keep on running!
  14. Michigan (born in Jersey, raised in Connecticut)
  15. You'll get there - just remember what it was like to make it to week 6 (and you did!). Just gotta find that drive again. I remember hitting a wall with a GI infection (could've ran but didn't want to put myself in potential real dehydration danger). I just kept thinking, I'll be back...it just took a bit of easing back into it. Just find that motivation that had you running to begin with...you'll be running again.
  16. It really is a great feeling - way to go!
  17. I just subscribed to 'Runners World' (haven't gotten my first issue yet). I've seen comments online that it now tailors much more to beginning runners, which is why I subscribed. A lot of their online articles have been very helpful too.
  18. No problem Carut! I actually only have the charge hr (no gps tracker either) but if your phone has GPS, then you can use the app. You click on 'track exercise' and then click on the stopwatch in the top right corner. That catches your GPS signal and then you just hit the 'play' button. But I think MapMyRun works very well too, so if you're already using the equivalent biking app, might be a similar interface.
  19. I am using the Fitbit app (because I have a fitbit), but I think that app works on its own too. I launch the app to track exercise and it uses GPS and a timer to track distance and speed (even does mile splits). Not sure if the app works like this without a fitbit, but I would think so. And it's free. I also have heard good things about Nike+ apps, and I think they have one for running. I also have Runkeeper on my phone, but haven't tried it yet (it's free too).
  20. Just keep running! You got this! You'll be amazed what you can do...just the fact that you're moving is fantastic. Slow and steady...
  21. Nice job on the half marathon! I have a foam roller that I will use when my muscles are extra sore - pretty quick way to work out the kinks. I haven't gotten anywhere close to the distance you're talking about though!
  22. I've had this happen before (not for a while though). When you start the workout, there should be a padlock picture on the screen. If you click that, it locks the screen and makes sure that any unintended screen touches don't alter the workout (you can manually skip parts by hitting the fast-forward button, so that may have happened accidentally).
