  1. Hi! My name is Ashley and I would love for you to check out my story of going from Fat to Fit! I'm still on my journey and the blog is my way of sharing my story, the ups and downs, to help me and to help others. I recently wrote about my struggle of seeing and enjoying the progress I'm making instead of focusing on all of the work that still needs to be done. Please check out my story by clicking the link below: https://abeautyandbeard.wordpress.com/2015/01/29/struggling-to-enjoy-progress/ You can also check it out on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/abeautyandbeard
  2. I don't want to say I'm looking for cheap shoes, because I need good quality shoes. But $ is an issue; I run cuz I can't afford a gym membership or fancy workout program. That being said, what brand of shoes have given you the best bang for your buck? What shoes have you tried that reduced the most shin pain?
  3. I need some advice! I need to find shorts to run in that don’t ride up every 2 steps. I have thick thighs and a big butt (lol) from riding horses my entire life and it’s near impossible to find a pair of shorts that fit. I found a pair is Nike’s that I love but haven’t been able to find them again. Any info would be very helpful!!
  4. Please guide me with the ideal time for treadmill running.
  5. How is running the best weight loss workout?
  6. I had my left ankle injured a month back and had a swollen foot for few days. The pain was really high for few days and after which the swelling and pain reduced comparatively. But the pain does sustain now and it gets worse when I get a small twist or something like that while walking. My right ankle also had a similar problem but is not intense as this. Is running with these ankle injuries okay for my feet or will it make the situation worse. I would love to hear from you guys.
  7. Heyo! I'm Zach and 15. I had heard that getting into better shape and, especially running, can help alleviate dysphoria. I thought this app would be perfect to try to help out with dysphoria, with the added bonus of maybe losing some weight too.
  8. Hello everyone. I'm so excited to do this program again with support from the community. I followed the c25k method about a year ago and didn't even know about the app. I'm 19, vegan, pregnant, and absolutely love running. I'm trying to ease back into it now that the worst of the first trimester has passed. I look forward to talking to lots of you, and hope to make a few running buddies along the way!
  9. Hi! I am 36 and I have run off and on since I was a teenager. More off than on! My supervisor at work told me about the C25K app and I downloaded it last week. I have done the first two days of week 1 so far this week. My plan is to do day 3 in the morning. I really prefer to workout with a buddy (don't we all) and I really struggle to work out on my own. I am trying to do this program more independently because it is pretty much impossible to find someone to work out/jog with 3-4 times per week which is how often I am trying to exercise. It is just not realistic to only workout with a friend so I am trying to get in the habit of running on my own as much as I can. I am confident as I focus on my goal that I will be successful. I am excited to have found the app and this forum. I hope it will give me some extra support! Shoutout to Virginia! I have lived in this state for seven years now and I love it here! Smiles! Ashley
  10. Hey there! My name's Tyler and I'm a trans guy, working to get in shape for DCI (Drum Corps International) and the upcoming WGI season. I was a runner awhile back but fell off the pattern when the marching band season (12 hour days and then once school started 3+ hour rehersals) began, so I'm excited to pick back up! Drum corps is my main reason for running, because you have to be insanely in shape and even if I'm not auditioning this year it's good to get started! Feel free to ask me anything or talk about DCI and WGI with me!
  11. Hey there I am 33 years old, 87 Kilos, 1.78 and I am trying to lose around 8-10 Kilos (and i want to reduce my body fat) My main workout is Running, I am running almost everyday for 45 min, around 5 kilometers (and from time to time I am doing P90X, Kenpo x) and I am a little bit confuse about the intensity of my running Some places I heard that I should run slow for a long time for maximum fat lost and some other places I heard that I need to run fast (small sprints) to lose maximum fat what is the right method? * Plus I am taking my diet very seriously since I know I need to lose more calories than i am taking Plus if you have any other methods and tips how to lose fat and to reduce my body fat "fast" it will be great! Thanks Yossi
  12. I have never been fit in my entire life, and I'm ready to make the change to a healthier lifestyle. I'm getting married next June and want to look and feel the best I ever have. I hope I can do this..
  13. Just realized I'm on Week 1 Day 2 and I haven't introduced myself. How rude. I'm Samantha but people just call me Sammy or Sam. I'm 19 and from the little Caribbean country of Belize. I'm 5'5"/5'6" and weigh 160lbs. Always stays the same cause my metabolism absolutely refuses to stray from what it's used to. That stubborn little twitch. I'm aiming for 128, and I want to maybe keep it there for the rest of my life. So what do I need? A lifestyle change. I need to KICK my metabolism forward and ORDER it to change. So I shall become a hardcore runner.. and a healthy eater.. and maybe join the karate club down the street. Right so.. running. Yes. This is an app for people to learn how to become runners. I really love it and would recommend it to anyone who's lazy like me 'cause the app basically does everything for you.. except move your legs. It even has that little encouraging voice that tells you when you're halfway done with a session. How great is that? Love it. So that's that. Nice to meet you all and good luck on your journey to fitness!
  14. Hi guys. I've got a question. A week ago I finished the c25 program, and tried to start the c10,but I'm not ready So I'm going to ask: can I improve the number of training days in the week (for example 5 days) instead of improving the length of the training? Will it be useful?I'm going to run only because I need to lose weight,in fact thanks to this program I lost 8 kg in 2 months.
  15. I'm a 29 year old mother of two, and when I started running, a smoker. I started running when I realized I needed something to stop cravings, I'm a former drug addict (7 months sober). So since I had not run in 11 years, it was hard to do, but I pushed through it. Where I live , in Missouri, It's very hilly and I find that to be a good thing. Anyway, I quit smoking cigarettes in May 7 and running has become much easier. I've cut a full minute off my mile and all cravings have stopped. I can't wait to run my first 5k. If I can do this, anyone can.
  16. What is your favorite running shoe? Are you a heel striker? Midfoot? Forefoot? What has worked for you? New Balance? Inov-8? Where did you find the best deals? Where have you had the most help? Share your stories with the community. We'd love to hear them all.
  17. I have syncope which really isn't a big deal if I wanted to sleep all the time. Syncope means I faint or black out when I stand or when I do something that should raise my blood pressure even slightly. This is caused by a series of events that all come from hypotension, or low blood pressure. This is the short definition of course. Either way, it doesn't happen every single time. When I decided to lift weights was when I became very aware of my syncope. I just cannot get my heart rate up consistently to get a good workout in. Not to mention I looked odd constantly yawning while lifting. It's almost like I could take a nap between every rep. It's annoying more than anything. So I wanted to learn to train my heart to do it's job. When you run with syncope it takes a very very long time to get your heart rate up and once it gets up, you could run forever. Of course you may pass out repeatedly trying to get your heart rate to that point. That's the miserable way to do it. The better way to train syncope is to walk then run and walk then run. Over time, you walk less and run more. This is the best way to train your heart rate for anyone but especially for those with syncope. It keeps your heart guessing and trying to keep up until finally, it figures out it's just going to have to raise on demand. So for those of you out there with super low blood pressure and heart rates and for those of you who faint or blackout when you do anything strenuous, it takes time but you CAN get there!
