    Update day!

So today was supposed to Week 2/Day 1. But I didn't sleep well Sunday night: My right ankle, knee, and hip all hurt. This was the leg I was concerned about when I started C25K. I was ready to give up. But I decided to take another rest day today and see how I did. I managed to get 10,000 steps yesterday and am on track to do that again today . . . and I'm feeling MUCH better. So, after reading over the advice I was given about my first week, I'm going to give it another go tomorrow. I am planning to repeat week #1 and run at the slower speed as I talked about on Sunday's post and see how it goes. I will keep you updated!!

    Just started

Hi everyone. I'm so new both in running or sharing :-) so here I am with first week first day. Kept telling myself that I'll start jogging for the last 2 years and here came the big day..yey me!!! Did it and wasn't as hard expected and it does feel a millions times better. Not only because I ran but ceva use I took the first step out of the comfort zone. At this point my biggest fear is not to get to the 5k as I don't feel confident about me running but hoping writing helps I'll keep on writing here :-) see you all on Thursday then.

    Here it is w8d3.

Hi! I did go out and I rocked!!! Lol I am amazed that a few short months ago I couldn't run 60 seconds. Now I can run 30 minutes!!! Now I am trying to talk my husband into running. I told him I'd start the program all over again (to better my pace) and I'd run 5k a couple times a week on my own. I think I'm winning. Lol hopefully by next week I'll be posting his progress as well!!

  14. My suggestion, RedMustRun, as time allows....join in on the fun here-simply trust your gut and respond only as your heart leads. There is no requirement to respond or even post, so I would encourage you NOT to worry about failing others here, AND as you have already noticed, if all you ever did was read, there is phenomenal; sincere support present daily, indeed reading gets me going and on the right track when I am having an off day, (it supports personal accountability). Again, as you have the time, (we are all busy in different ways) share your progress and read other's; encourage and be encouraged and sooner or later you will resonate/connect with another participant who has very similar goals and intentions - then message away! Lastly, tough love. At the end of the day the only person who will see if you have followed through is you. Tough love starts first with you, which means you compassionately and firmly remind yourself that your past abundant excuses and reasons not to run are yesterday's news. Today, you have an opportunity and choice to kick your own hiney into gear, and you'll reap the benefits of that choice and celebrate your success at the end of day! You will be and are your biggest cheerleader! I for one, would love to hear how you continue to encourage and motivate yourself on in spite of and because of the off days, and most certainly I am eager to dish out loads of HIGH FIVES! CHEERS! Looking forward to hearing about your progress - your on days and off days!!

  16. Well, that did not work the way I had hoped. After a 10-day layoff (of stretching, walking and gentle cycling), I tried to run a mile. I made it about half before my knee started acting up from the IT Band. At first, I decided I wanted to push through the moderate pain and finish the mile I set out to complete, but then asked myself if that last half mile of running was worth the extra week that I might have to rest to come back from it. I decided it was not, I listened to my body and walked. I iced and heated later in the day. The troubling thing is that I have to cancel my plans to run the 10-mile race in a few weeks, but that also means I am going to take three weeks off running, work on stretching and the dreaded foam roller to try to get back to where I want to be. I'm already planning for my return, and my next race, which will be a 5K just after Memorial Day, when things will be finally winding down at work. All of your support and encouragement here has been a great help as I've worked through this, and I'll continue to lean on you all as I keep battling back! Thank you!

  17. Red, that is awesome, and I love your goals mapped out and including your daughter and friends. Having someone along for the ride is a great way to go. If you haven't seen the Accountability 2015 thread head over there and you can start a thread for your journey. Keep all of us updated as we are all keeping each other accountable!

  18. Hi All, As the title suggests I'm a complete newbie to running, I decided that I'd take the bull by the horns and give it a go! I'm pleased to say that I started my running journey a couple of days ago, and so far so good! I completed day 2 (albeit on another app) today and feel great. I have small twinges in my thighs that, if I'm honest, ache ever so slightly. Tomorrow is a rest day for me and i shall cherish it dearly. Good luck to all who are starting out upon their own personal journeys of running discovery, I hope you, like me, enjoy it and maximise the endless possibilities that it will undoubtedly bring into the new chapter of your life!! Peace out Lioness

    Scared! W4D1

Yep. Don't stress it. Just go put some tunes on and run. Don't check the time. If you fail, you get to go again with no penalty. You're body will decide if you're ready. Just cranlk some tunes and have some fun. Again, don't check the time. Run until the lass tells you to walk.
