  1. After careful consideration, I’ve decided to train for and run my first marathon. The Portland Marathon is in October. I’ve decided to use the C25K program as my “conditioning” and then I’ll start my Marathon training after that 8 week program is up. This is the biggest goal I’ve ever set for myself. I’m nervous. I’m scared. But above it all, I’m excited about the journey. I don’t have a time goal, just a “finish it” goal❤️
  2. Hi All, I'm Ian from South Wales, I'm going to start the 10k program tomorrow, let myself go a little bit and having struggled with mental health issues & suicidal thoughts. I've decided taking up running, losing a bit of weight and getting fit may help with my what's in my head!! Haven't really got anyone in my life that really encourages me. So thought I'd stick a flag up in here and see what happens. Take care Ian
  3. Hi, I'm trying the 100 push ups challenge and I'm stuck on Week 5, Day 3 with 120 total push-ups. I've tried this day thrice and failed. I fail at the final 30 push-ups, I can comfortably do about 20 push-ups at once but can't do 30. Is it normal to be stuck for so long on one level? How do I develop that strength? Just liked to share, if you guys have your experience or something else to share, it'll be great!
  4. Hello!! I just got done day 2 of this program and thought I’d join the forum. I need someone to hold me accountable to keep it up. I run intermittently, but never enough to amount to anything. Meaning I occasionally hop on the treadmill and will run 1 mile MAX, and probably have to stop 3 times in between to walk. It’s sad. I made the mistake of agreeing to run a 5k with a friend after drinking a couple glasses of wine... so now I have to get my life together. Just hoping to find some motivation! I’ve heard excellent reviews about this program for years, so I’m trying it out. Wish me luck and good luck to my fellow beginners!!
  5. I'm new and just about to start this journey. Just wondered if anyone who is planning on training those days wanted to check in occasionally after each week? Or is that happening and I've missed it? Can't run and can't use technology well
  6. I am training for my first 5k in the fall. It is actually a 6k called the Heroes in Recovery 6k supporting those who are recovering from addiction. I have taken many bold steps to get healthy in the last year and a half including getting/staying clean from heroin and losing nearly 80 lbs. Doing any kind of running was always scary for me, but using the c25k app has made it fun and I look forward to where this leads me in my health journey.
  7. Hi. Im Marilyn. Im 43, 2 kids, full time job and student. I let myself go and i need to get back on track. I thought i could do it on my own, but i cant. I really need to do this. Im scared of failing.

  9. I'm Piero, from Italy. I'm an old user of 10K trainer. Hello!
  10. Assuming you are running 3 days a week and no more. Particularly at the beginning of the 5k programme. All at the beginning then 4 days to heal? Or day on day off in the week with a weekend off? What works best for you and is one way recommended over others? I've never managed to settle in to a routine properly and always end up mixing approaches (perhaps a reason for me starting the course many times but never finishing!)
  11. Hey guys - just getting started on this journey. My local hospital advertised a C25k program they were starting up in conjunction with the local track club a few weeks back. I decided to sign up and the first meeting was this past Monday. This is a major step for me. I've been sedentary and obese most of my life (all of my adult life). I am 46 years old and last fall I was diagnosed with breast cancer. The good news? It was found really early. After a lumpectomy, lymph node removal, a few rounds chemo, and several weeks of radiation I'm starting to get my life back on an even keel and I want to also use this time to become a healthier version of me. I mean.. cancer already took me out of my comfort zone, I might as well keep going. However.. I'm VERY out of shape and even a brisk walk leaves me out of breath. They started us off with a timed one mile (for me it was a walk, some did run/walk) on Monday to set a baseline.. I'm really slow. It was something like 22:40 I think for me. I know it will get better, but I'm starting off behind. With regard to the app - I notice it starts off with a 60 second run. A lot of the places I've been reading for people in similar circumstances to mine indicate that sometimes 30 seconds running as a starting point might be more "doable". Is there any way for me to adjust the app to accommodate for that?
  12. As a young (ish) dad I'm doing this to ensure I have the energy to run around the parks and beaches with my little ones when they get older :-) Looking for people to share the long hard journey with! Good luck everyone.
  13. It was hard for me to finish the first day, but I did it, my question is - since it was hard, should I retry the same day's excersize the next day, or push forward into day 2?
  14. Hiya everyone! I'm 18 (Senior year!) and have a little too much extra "lovin'". Quick back story: I use to be obsessed with running when I was a Freshman. I actually would run almost every day Freshman year; on a normal day I'd run atleast 3 miles and on crumby days I'd push myself to 5.5 miles. I was a fitness junky. I always had to be doing something active. I played soccer, tennis, volleyball, basketball, and ran both cross country & track. Last school year (Junior year) I went from weighing 128 lbs. to weighing 159.6 lbs. within barely 2 months. I got depressed and everything went down hill. I'd burn maybe 600 calories during the day but would come home after school and consume 4,000 calories... So my tiny body stretched out. I've dropped all my weight (down to 135 lbs.) but nothing is in shape like it use to be. I have almost lost all motivation for anything regarding fitness. I'll get on big health kicks and they'll last for a month or so then go 4 months without doing anything. I miss being active and the excuses I've been feeding my brain is "I'll do it tomorrow." & "I just need someone to push me." and they're not doing anything for me. So here's the purpose of this thread. I'm looking for someone to be a "running buddy" (someone to do the same thing the same day as me or even yell ((nicely)) to do my daily run) and really we don't have to be on the same progress. If anyone is interested please let me know! I'm not sure what time I'm doing it tomorrow but most likely it'll be early (10-ish East Coast Time). And if someone is looking for a buddy or encourager as well let me know, I know I'd love someone for that and I'd gladly help someone with it!! Sorry for the long post! Xoxo

  16. Hey there! I have a bad yoyo style history with fitness and eating well. Been big and fat my entire life. And seriously determined to make a change. With the extra weight, my asthma, and lack of fitness, I'm expecting a challenge but totally up for it. My husband is coming along for the ride and encouraging me so much it's amazing. Today we started week 1 day 1. However I was only able to do half of the jogging at a slow speed. Not discouraged however! My plan is to repeat day 1 until I can complete it the entire way, before moving onwards! Anyone else out there really big and doing this for the first time? Any advice for the extra weight? I'm very mindful of strain on my joints especially knees so advice on how to minimise that would be great. And how do you motivate yourself in this heat? This aussie summer sure has hit early this year ☺
  17. I've completed day 1 of week 1 despite my SUPER weak ankles. Literally as soon as I Starr running, my ankles start screaming, especially the left one. I'm hoping that this really is just a strength issue. My exercise regimen has been nonexistent for more than a year now, aside from a brief attempt at doing a 30 days of yoga challenge in January. So because of my week ankles, I never did a full 60 second run during any of the 8 rounds. I ran as much as I could (34 seconds or less when I looked at my phone once) and walked until it told me to run again. But I completed the 8 rounds! That's a LOT better than my first attempt about 2 months ago when I had to quit after 3 rounds because I pushed my ankles too far instead of giving them a break when they asked for it.
  18. Just realized I'm on Week 1 Day 2 and I haven't introduced myself. How rude. I'm Samantha but people just call me Sammy or Sam. I'm 19 and from the little Caribbean country of Belize. I'm 5'5"/5'6" and weigh 160lbs. Always stays the same cause my metabolism absolutely refuses to stray from what it's used to. That stubborn little twitch. I'm aiming for 128, and I want to maybe keep it there for the rest of my life. So what do I need? A lifestyle change. I need to KICK my metabolism forward and ORDER it to change. So I shall become a hardcore runner.. and a healthy eater.. and maybe join the karate club down the street. Right so.. running. Yes. This is an app for people to learn how to become runners. I really love it and would recommend it to anyone who's lazy like me 'cause the app basically does everything for you.. except move your legs. It even has that little encouraging voice that tells you when you're halfway done with a session. How great is that? Love it. So that's that. Nice to meet you all and good luck on your journey to fitness!
  19. Hey, Just fount this app and thought I´d give it a try. I really wanna be able to run 5k. I have had problems with my shins for as long as I can remeber and I am carrying waay to many kilos. 21. Hi! I am super excited about these forums. I am new to running. I just completed Week 1 Day 3 today! I started because I want to be healthier for my kids and maybe lose some pounds. I figure if I'm going to have a hobby it may as well be one that gets me healthy. I'm looking forward to being able to ask questions here and learn more about running.
