  1. Thank you all. I'll tel you this. If you run 1.6 miles before turning around you will kind of have little choices. Run back, walk back, take a cab back, but you will be traveling 5k today. I found the minute I turned around and realized I was on my way to the finish line, if you will, I got a second wind. I don't want to say it was easy, and it wasn't, but I knew I was going to finish it running.
  2. Yopu get unlimited restarts. lets do this!!!
  3. There's a significant amount of sugar in fruit but it's also very healthy for you. If you are actively trying to lose weight, you may want to keep it light especially bananas however it's rather unlikely yopu will gain weight from it. I eat 1-2 apples a day.
  4. Now that I can use the iPod and free up the phone(and stop), I'll be able to take some photos and show you all The Belle of Louisville. She's a 100 year old steam powered riverboat with a wooden paddlewheel. A beautiful ship parked in downtown Louisville which is on the river. I run most often on the river path which means I run right by her(Like within 10 feet ).
  5. You cant fail at running. You can only fail to run. If you get out there and try, you've already won! And in case you didn't play with the app and figure this out, you get unlimited restarts. You don't have to go to jail and you can still pass Go and collect $200. Never be afraid to fail. Only be afraid to not try!
  6. Family. Not many better reasons to start your journey. If you mix in a proper diet with this you find the weight loss will be quite amplified. I reccomend the Paleo diet to everyone!! It's all natural, no gimmicks and it's literally next to impossible not to lose weight on it! That plus running and WHAMMO(Not the Frisbee company)! Good luck!
  7. Change nervous to excited. This is all about fun. You're gonna love it!!
  8. Fear not. I'll never stop fighting!! My first race in March is with a marathon runner. She's considerably faster than my 11min/mile pace. She will slow down to my speed but I've got just about a month and a half to improve my pace to a more reaosnable speed for her to enjoy
  9. 10 minutes is more than nothing. A little progress beats none. Keep puishing!!!
  10. Welcome to the fun. You CAN do this if you want it bad enouh!!
  11. As of right now I will not be continiung my run training in the short term. I'll continue running 5k as a regular workout and I'll participate in races but I'd like to push some focus back to barbell strength training. This C25K has been my primary focus for 8 weeks. I just have so little juice left in the tank to lift. Once I build up my endurance a bit more I'll have the extra juice to lift. I think I'll do that awhile and then.... 10k? Maybe. Martial Arts? Maybe. Climbing? Maybe. American Ninja Warrior? I doubt it LOL Rest assured I'm a runner and that will continue. I just think at this point 5K is a great distance to "Get your Zen on". I might knock it up to 5 miles so I can run across the river to Indiana when it get's nicer. A half mile long pedestrian/bike bridge. Sure looks worth the extra run to! The people in the foreground are rounding the giant loop(1/4 mile) that gets you up the bridge. it used to be a train bridge many moons ago.
  12. Felt awesome. Weather perfect. I just went for broke. 34:36 to clear the full 5k. BLAM!
  13. So um. It just didn't feel right ending the C25K program and not running 5k. Was a beautiful day out. Over 50 degrees and I was feeling great at the halfway point. I decided to fight. Program complete!
  14. Reversing type 2 diabetes is doable. I did, but running alone isn't going to do it easily. Diet is 80% of the battle. I sound like a broken record but PALEO!! This is how I kicked diabetes in 3 months. This is how you will kick it if you try. Even try Paleo for 2 weeks and watch your blood sugar nose dive.l it's amazing.
  15. Personally, I'd pat myself on the back for doing my best, then I'd do it over and over and over until I beat it! Then I'd move on
  16. Well I hope you wont hate me for going metric. I'd LOVE to be rockin a Night train but my wallet says a VTX LOL
  17. Tomorrow is week 8, day 3. I have but 2 emotions on the subject. Imaptience and excitement. 27 more hours until run time and the clock has stopped. I'm stoked. Let's do this!! So what are my plans afterwards? To Run 5k of course. Run my first race March 7th and before that, finish up my distance to 5k and run it 3 days a week as a prelude to my workout. At the moment I haven't any intentions of moving on to 10k(this is subject to change without written notice required). I also don't in any way have any objections either. I'm just not planning on doing it yet. It will most likely happen at some point though just because i l've enjoyed the fight. What about Zenlabs forums? As of now, I shall endevour to maintain my presence on these forums, continue to pass along my experiences during the journey, and help people with the strength training aspect of running as I feel that may be where I'm strrongest(and ill-qualified). You may have noticed I speak about myself like I've completed tomorrows run already. I have not but my confidence is high. You would be unwise to bet against me <G>
  18. I wish we had the ability to send private messages. I'd give you my email adress so you could email me any questions but I'll watch your thread and helpo you with anything I can. You wioll thank me in the end. It'll make you a happier runner <G>
