this plan of yours will work good choice Welcome please post on your progress so i can cheere you on im on week 5 and having fun i couldnt even run for 1 min when i started my longest jogg so far has been 13 min
I think I'm getting better this morning, but I'm definitely going to the doctors if it's still sore day after tomorrow, thank you everyone!
Anne, I'm so excited for you! You'll do great, cant wait to hear how you went! So happy to know there's someone who is on the same week as I am but I think you'll soon be ahead of me! ◡̈
I've just completed w4d1 and feeling really proud of myself.
I have just turned 50 and was very unfit. I have asthma and COPD. When I first started the c25k I struggled with week 1 but was determined to do it. I completed w2 but then kept repeating w3 until I felt comfortable and today was the day that I got the confidence to move to w4 and so glad I did.
I have been reading some of the threds on here and you have given me the inspiration I need.
I've cut back on some dietary excesses. Last year I gave up the diet sodas (and I drank a LOT of those). This year it's been more about portion control and just trying to scale things back. Now that the weather isn't terribly conducive to bike riding, I haven't been doing that on the 'off' days and I think I'm seeing the result. My wife is a tribute to what dancing can do for your endurance - out of nowhere she was able to do a 20 minute jog when she was just coming along with me. The bar brawls? Well, reducing the risk of injury was paramount when I started this odyssey so the bar brawls will have to find someone else to participate....
Now I just have to figure out where to start if I'm going to take a walk down Yoga Boulevard...
I'm repeating week 1 because I was struggling and I didn't want to injure myself. Got some really good advice from a friend (the only person who knows I'm trying running for the first time ever). 1. Go to a store specializing in running shoes or at least trained in fitting footwear. I sucked it up and went and found out that my feet turn in when I step. Spent the money for the recommended and very expensive shoes and started week 1 for the second week. The shoes made a world of difference. They really helped with leg and foot cramps and made running much more comfortable. Glad I spent the money. So try a pair of "good" shoes. The second piece of advice was to be as kind to myself as I would somebody else who was struggling with something new. So I'm giving that a shot and going for round two of week one.
Hope it helps to know you're not alone in your struggles.
only if work eases up we have been short staffed so not enough break time and if i cant leave before it gets late i promised people not to run alone in the dark bad things have been happening to runners and walkers wish i had a dog or running buddy
