    craving to run

They sure are; they can turn a "I don't want to do this run" into the best one

  2. You are experiencing DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness). If you have taken a full day off there is no reason you shouldn't be able to run. Any soreness will actually go away after a couple minutes and you'll feel just fine. The one thing to keep in mind though is if the discomfort is bad enough that it effects your form. Poor form can cause you to hurt yourself so if you start running and it doesn't feel right, best to take another day off. I run on sore and tired legs a lot. In fact, Marathon training programs will work you really hard one day and then run you long the next workout day with the intention of you running on fatigued legs. You need to learn that to run long distances because they do indeed get fatigued and sore.

  3. Hi there!! I just wanted to stop by to report that i completed my first 5k in 42 minutes! I feel so happy! I am actually on the 10k program, and it has taken me longer to get there, but, this program is so good, it has really been from the couch to 5k in 13 weeks. No injuries, and feeling so good and strong, despite my lupus! I am going to complete the program to get to run for an hour, i feel i can do anything now

Yay, Sean! We have all come so far! Good job, everyone! You all, rock! Ruthie, I second you creating an accountability thread. It's very gratifying for yourself, and fun and encouraging for everyone else.

Anne, if you want to use MapMy apps to track your shoes, you can just choose a model and give it a nickname, and then choose that one each time you use your shoes (were you the one with Reeboks?) That way you can easier get a general idea when to change your shoes. For your speed, don't worry about it. Run at the pace that's comfortable for YOU to talk. You will speed up at the end; just focus on increasing your endurance.

Well, after going back and forth, I did it. I signed up, so now I'm committed. I want to test myself, and this will be the last 5k until Christmas and I know we'll be out of town for that. I can't wait to see what it's like to run with a thousand or so people around you. I'm going to try to run it all, but if I can't I'll walk what I need to.

    Jogging?

On the Train to 5k app for free. The voice tells me to start running, but the screen says to jog. Which should I do? I'm new to this.

    Jogging?

I go at a comfortable pace for me. You should be able to speak. Push yourself, but don't burn yourself out. Go for time at first, not speed. You can focus on speed later!
