I'm starting c25k tomorrow on my brand new treadmill. Got it put together today and will start first thing in the morning. I'm going to do the program first time through walking steady then fast instead of jogging since I'm 80+ pounds over weight. Hoping by doing it once that way then do it again with jogging I will be able to do a 5k by my birthday in July.1 point

I'm 49, almost 50. Hubby has 12 years on me and I can't keep up with him. Tomorrow is day one for me and because I'm way off where I should be I will be walking two speeds through the first time. I will do the c25k a second time with running which should make it possible to run a 5k for my 50th birthday in July. Here's to new beginnings.1 point

Hi there. I'm veree new here literally got the app an hour ago. I would like to introduce myself properly but before I do I have 2 questions? How do you link this to MFP? I keep clicking on connect on MFP and it takes me to App Store, open the app and then nothing after that. 2nd ? And perhaps more critical. I logged in with Facebook...Is everything I post or do on here automatically reflected on my FB timeline? I want to be open and honest here about my journey but not for my FB friends to see. Lol1 point -
Just finished the last run for week 3 of 10K. WooHoo! Increased my pace, threw in extra runs during the longer walking portions, and tacked on 2 min to make it a 30 min workout. 2.5 miles each day. Feeling awesome and looking forward to attacking week 4!!1 point

kick starting

Day one done. Both harder and easier than I thought it would be. Easier because any time I was ready to quit during the faster pace I could see it was almost over. Harder because I now know just how out of shape I am.1 point -

Kind of? I have gone from "I'm going to run today" to "I can't wait to run today" but the dedication, perseverence and confidence were there before I started them. Beasting my medical problems and losing well over 80 pounds already had my mental game right where I needed it.1 point -

So true! And thankfully it does not get easier and instead remains a challenge. When I first started, I thought this might be too easy. It's not! LOL What does get easier is that first minute, and those minutes add up. It was definitely easier running a minute on W2D1. I was pleasantly surprised, "Good girl!" I told myself. hehe However, running the full two minutes remained a challenge. It'll get easier and easier over time and soon I'll nail that 30 minutes!1 point -

Awesome Azatol! From 1 minute runs/2 minute walks in W1D1, to running 2 miles in W7D1 ... I'd say that's a hella good FIGHT! Right on! I'm curious if you have noticed any difference in mindset in regards to where you were when you began W1D1 and where you are today having achieved W7D1?1 point -
Sorry for your mishap Missy. A little advice on missing workouts. 1) Forgive your self! Life happens, shrug it off and get rocking on your next one ( Or make it up if you want to ) 2) Never miss 2 in a row unless it's a real emergency type thing. Missing 2 begins a habbit and not one we want. Hope you're feeling better soon!!1 point

Starting tomorow :)

Yep! I have a tendency to push myself TOO hard, a.k.a not listening to my body properly. Nausea turns to gagging or dry-heaving. Non stop dry-heaving = stopping. I don't want to stop, so instead I simply slow down. I used to work out at 4:30 am six days a week, (alternate HIIT and weights) - I received quite a bit of ribbing, along with tips from the morning crew - it was humorous and embarrassing. It took a bit of time, yet I finally learned when to back off, vs. over exert, AND when to eek out that last minute of running or weight rep vs. stopping or slowing down too soon. Yesterday, I too experienced nausea. I knew how much I could take so I pressed through on the second to last run. On the last run I knew I had to slow down, and I did.1 point -

Hi all! I am a 34 year old female from the UK, 5ft5 and around 16 stone. I have always wanted the freedom of running but get so far into it and my knees play me up. But I am adamant I am going to give it a go again even if I have to do it on a cross trainer or treadmill! I am sure you have had an influx of new members all with similar stories so I will not bore you with a long one. I suffer pains daily in my back hips and knees, not to mention a lifetime struggle with depression. I know exercise is great for all these issues! A few years ago I was a regular gym goer and loved it, I was getting lighter and my moods were stable but my back was killing me. I was put onto tramadol and naproxen by the Doctor but investigations showed no reason for the pain. Since then my weight has increased and my self confidence has plummeted. As a wife and mother of two, I do not do much which is just for me. So THIS is going to be for ME. If anyone fancies a buddy let me know!1 point

Awesome Azatol. Thanks so much. I am a Paleo Lifestyle loved. I have a website called www.cavegirlcancook.com and FB oage with the same name. Love love Paloe. With my Blood Sugar levels I have been a Cave Girl since I was little. Never wanting cake and ice cream at a party but preferring salty protein foods. Check out ,y recioes on there. Feel free to add your own. I love the Paleo Lifestyle. Ask me anything. I love it. I strength train 3x a week and run 3-4 x a week and crossfit. Mostly at my home as I'm far from town. You can so use your own body weight for all strength training. All dy long I will do push-ups in the counter, squats, jumping jacks, lunges, etc... Fit it in everywhere. You can do it. Diet is a huge piece of the puzzle. Nutrition is the key. Hey, I asked ZenLabs and they now have a new board up that I asked for called Accountabilty 2015. Please, let's all go there and post what our workouts and what we are doing there. Let's do it. Rock 2015. See you there.1 point -
Starting today hoping to turn diabetes
Seans-momo reacted to Azatol for a topic
Folks, I can tell you with some certainty that it can be done. As of Halloween my doctor declared me no longer diabetic. I was on 1000 milligrams of metformin this summer. Nothing right now and my blood sugar rarely tops 100. My A1C was 4.9 last momth. The recipe? 1) PALEO DIET!!!! Eat like our ancesters 2) Exercise. I started lifting weights now I run and lift. I was 315 last year. Walked off a lot of it. 268 when I went Paleo and started working out in August( was walking and eating low carb diet before that but weight loss stopped even with 10k steps a day ). Now I'm diabetes free, off blood pressure meds and 226 pounds. Down 2-3 shirt sizes and 3 pant sizes There is another piece of the puzzle. STRENGTH TRAINING ( which running is a form of ). FACT: Muscle burns calories faster. FACT: your metabolism is elevated for up to 48 hours after you work out. The most important part and the hardest one we have to come to terms with is diet is 80% of the game. Running and strength training alone will get you down a little but diet is where it's at. When you combine the two, bye bye pounds. hello better feeling me. <hops off soap box>1 point
