  2. Hi Diane! It is a personal choice, so only if you choose. I don't and do not miss it all. Speaking of auto pilot ... it's great gettin' back into the drivers seat again isn't it!! Taking control in life-affirming ways!

  3. Hi all! I am a 34 year old female from the UK, 5ft5 and around 16 stone. I have always wanted the freedom of running but get so far into it and my knees play me up. But I am adamant I am going to give it a go again even if I have to do it on a cross trainer or treadmill! I am sure you have had an influx of new members all with similar stories so I will not bore you with a long one. I suffer pains daily in my back hips and knees, not to mention a lifetime struggle with depression. I know exercise is great for all these issues! A few years ago I was a regular gym goer and loved it, I was getting lighter and my moods were stable but my back was killing me. I was put onto tramadol and naproxen by the Doctor but investigations showed no reason for the pain. Since then my weight has increased and my self confidence has plummeted. As a wife and mother of two, I do not do much which is just for me. So THIS is going to be for ME. If anyone fancies a buddy let me know!

  6. Oh RedRunner, I sooooo hate being sidelined with illness, injuries, etc... grrrrrrrr... Its annoying for sure. it will take you a few weeks after to get back up to speed, but it depends on if you have junk in your lungs too. Then it might take longer. I love love EmergenC, that is a miracle. Try that too. FEEL BETTER! HUGS!

  7. You Bet applerose, Great job on your run. Azatol, I am wanting to be like you, I have logged in MFP for years and when I delete it, I have withdrawals and install it again. I really need to stop counting calories as I eat healthy, mostly Paleo with a few carb days.

  10. Come to think of it, your treadmill's speed shouild be zero. They are far too heavy to carry while you're trying to run <Grin>

  14. Week 6 is done! 22 minutes was not so bad but it was a rough day. Low 30s. Windchill galore. Second half was running into a brisk headwind rolling off the Ohio. UGH. But we did it because i FIGHT!! 12 minute pace but we will shore up the numbers after I finish the program Very easy lifting day. 3 sets of 5 @135lb Deadlifts 3 sets of reverse crunches x10

Hi. I started 4 days ago and going to do w1d3 tomorrow. Actually, it's really cold these days out there (-15C) and no one runs in the street in our city. I did not expect that I would be so glad to find other beginners, but reading how others do it helps me to do my best as well.

  19. I also agree. Put it away and forget it. Think about other things. Like the outdoors around you. Gardens, lights, anything. I like to make my mental notes of things I need to pick up at the grocery store, chores or think of a movie or book I may have just watched/ read. Lol, anything to get my mind off of how much time is left!!

  21. Good for you for finishing your first day!! There are no stupid questions in here - we're all here to help Go as fast as you feel comfortable, and gradually increase your speed and/or incline when using a treadmill. Best of luck to you - please keep us posted on your progress, and feel free to ask any other questions as they come up

Outside is where you will run your first 5k so outside is the best place to run, then indoor track, treadmill and I guess if you can jogf in place why not. ANYTHING is better than sitting on your butt!!

  23. Honestly the only way that I've found to avoid chub rub is to wear capris. Danskin makes a very comfy moisture wicking capri and you can find them at Walmart or on Walmart's website. Very reasonably priced. Maybe after I lose weight I can rock some shorts when running but right now they just ride up too much and capri's give me one less thing to worry about LOL!
