    WorthIt4Life Mj

Hello everyone! My name is Mj, and I’m a 28yo wife, college graduate, and an activities specialist for those with dementia. I’m also on my own weight loss journey, currently down 60lbs since August of 2018. I have documented my journey on YouTube and other social media. I’m here on C25K because I want to be able to do a 5k run in May with my sister. I don’t remember the last time I was able to run, yet alone jog. This is definitely going to be a whole new chapter in my journey to lose weight and to get fit. I look forward to getting to know you all if you so choose to get to know me too. Thank you!

    Running Belt

I had to find a new Running Belt since my iphone 8 plus doesnt fit in the Flipbelt well. I found the Running Belt Max and I highly recommend it. The phone fits easily in the main zip pocket, the belt has a low profile and doesnt move at all when I run. I know there are 100s of these types on Amazon but I really like this one a lot.

  8. Today was my first attempt at Week 5, day 3. I did it without stopping and wasn’t dying when I was done. I feel pretty good for a 64 yo who just started running in December. I hadn’t run in 15 or more yests before that.

  10. I’ve tried keto for a few months, and even though I’ve lost most of my weight through keto, I find it very strict on what to eat vs what not to eat. Today, I mainly count my calories, choosing healthy, well balanced meals, with incorporating some keto meals in here and there.

    Why are you running?

I am currently on a weight loss journey of my own. I’ve lost 60lbs since August 2018, and I have 171lbs to go. I have never been a runner, but I want to condition myself to jog/run by May for a 5k. My sister and I are signing up for the color run. I’m doing a 5k walk the week before the run, which I’ve done the walk before. Now I’m ready to push myself more in hopes of completing a 5k run.

  13. Hi there! I am an avid hiker/backpacker who is looking for an outdoor workout I can do year-round to strengthen my knees and ankles and keep me conditioned for summertime hiking goals. I have never run before but am looking forward to the challenge of it. I do worry about building endurance but I know that comes with time. Would love any tips or encouragement others have! I am from Upstate NY so I’ve chosen to begin my running journey in the snowy winter. We’ll see how it goes.

  14. "Running a 5K" is on my goal list for 2019 as well! I walked a 5K last year on Thanksgiving Day and it was a lot of fun. My average mile was 19:01 so that is my benchmark. I signed up for one on St. Patrick's Day to see how I am progressing. I'm on week 2 of C25K. I repeated week 1 on purpose. So far so good. The weather here is not conducive to running so until it warms up and thaws out I'm using a treadmill.

  15. I repeated week 1 as well. I wanted to be certain I was settled in with that before moving on. One thing all of my "runner" friends have said about when they first start was it takes time... they all said repeating weeks was not a problem at all. As long as you are working it will come. I would like some advice for a new runner. My calf muscles get pretty tight. Any suggestions for a good warm up/stretching routine?

    Weightlifting

I've been doing compound exercises for 5 sets of 5 reps to build strength and have been gaining alot of muscle mass. Doing bench press, military press, bicep curls, squats, barbell rows, and deadlifts. Three exercises one day and three the next.

  17. I been on a Keto diet 3 months.. I decided for health and detox . It's really good for fat loss and curing many health problems from eating a crappy diet ..

  18. I'm eating about 20g carbs a day. I generally run a few hours after lunch and have a glass of water before I go and when I get back, as well as staying hydrated throughout the day. Some people like exercising while fasted but I don't feel well when I do that. If I felt the need for fuel before starting I'd probably do a shot of heavy cream or half a protein shake. My energy seems to be increasing the more I run!!
