Steveruns
So I am on week five day three. On day two, according to my treadmill, I only went slightly over a half mile in the eight minutes. I am also walking less than a quarter mile in the five minutes. Is this way too slow? If I walk the next step up it is really awkward for me...almost like I need to start jogging. As far as jogging for eight I have no trouble but if I turn it up just one more notch it is really intense/can't keep my breath for more than a couple minutes. Should I be working on running faster now before continuing or keep at my current pace?
Jeshi
Hi Steve, I'm a newbie, but I wanted to let you know I am running and walking at the same pace. I read that you should be able to talk while running and you should run the slowest pace you can. According to those rules, it sounds like you are pacing yourself correctly. All the advice I've seen on these boards say that faster speeds will come later. I say you should keep at your current pace. Cheers!
CatLover74
Focus on endurance first. The speed will come later.
Janviv
Your post should be edited to read 'I am running', well done, keep going.
KellyAnn
EXACTLY what JANVIV said.... She hit it!! YOU ARE OUT THERE working out, that is all that matters..... Proud of you!
Momma B
Just finished week 6 day 3. I am proud of myself for running 22 minutes without stopping but was unable to get close to 2 1/4 miles... So frustrating. I honestly don't think I could do 2 1/4 even if I slowed pace down. Do I keep moving forward?
Janviv
Do it at your pace, a redo is just more training, don't feel that repeating, however often is a failure, it's not its just your body needs a bit more consolidation. Enjoy the satisfaction of completing day 3 of whatever week you are on, you earned a rest for a couple days.
KellyAnn
Great Job MommaB! AS of your 22 minutes, you are training for a 5k, you are not doing a 5k everytime you rain for that day. Yes, move forward, time will increase and so will your endurance. Proud of you! You are doing fantastic!
