Which side of the road?

I maybe should know the answer to this but I'm wondering what side of the road I should be running on. I live in a rural area with no sidewalks, tight shoulders, and a lot of hills which reduce visibility at times(coming up a hill you can't see oncoming traffic until you are at or near top). I am currently running on the left side because I feel I can keep an eye on the traffic that is closest to me, but should I be running on the right?

Always run the same side as oncoming traffic. I run in a rural area & I make sure when I run up to & round a corner I am in the middle of my lane, I can be seen early & have room to move to the side. So far only 1 close encounter, I think he was half asleep, either that or he was shocked to see someone out in that colour of t shirt!!. I always wear something light or bright, nothing green!! Take care.

You might want to check with your local police because some areas require runners/walkers to walk facing traffic and some require them to walk with traffic.  I have been ticketed (I am not kidding, no sidewalks and I was walking against traffic on the shoulder and was ticketed and $25 fine) for not knowing the law.  LOL  But I live in CA so our laws change daily here.  LOL

I run like you do Mim in the country. I run facing traffic so they can see me.

One time while running, i had my earbuds in and music blaring, man was I embarrassed to turn around and see them driving slowly because I did not hear them. Oops.

Now i face traffic!!!! For my safety!!

Happy Running!!
