Teena
How much water is the right amount? I know the eight glasses a day but what does that equate to in real life? On my desk right now is a 1 Liter bottle of Fiji water...how many of these do I need to drink? Sorry I know this maybe a stupid question but I dont what the right amount is. TheRoseWithin~Shannon
Hi Teena! In the past, I have used this little hydration calculator (here), although I did not find it that helpful for me - some might! If curious, there are quite a few hydration calculators out there - check 'em out! After reading your post, I did a search to see what is being written about water intake today. There are many articles out there, yet this is the one I read: Water: How Much Should You Drink Everyday. That shared ... It is relative to the individual's needs. My goal, which I have not set yet, (bad girl I am) is to drink 1 gallon a day. 16-20oz upon rising and then the rest throughout the day. I try to stop by 8-9pm; however, I usually wake up and drink about 10-20oz during the night, (I generally don't count what I drink at night towards my 1gal goal). It works for me. My urine is the right color (not too light and definitely not dark). It keeps my bowels very happy obviously, AND I notice I loose weight more steadily OR keep it off. Additionally, I notice my skin is healthier all over - I have good skin to begin with, yet when I drink my water - it is even better. Ha! After responding to this ... think I'll set my water goal. LOL Thanks to you! Lastly, if you are super busy or distracted and need a water app to help remind you to drink, there are a few out there you may find helpful. KellyAnn
Hey there. Hydration is definitely the key to weight loss. Best way to do it is half your body weight in ounces. If you weigh 150lbs, you drink 75oz a day. Weight 130lbs, drink 65 os a day. I like to measure my whole days water in a jug and see how I do. Love it. Hey Shannon, Thanks! for that. Will def check out the links. TheRoseWithin~Shannon
KellyAnn
Oh nothing came up with the link.
Teena
Thanks for the information! You are amazing. I've heard of people shooting to drink 1 gallon per day...maybe I will give that a try. Right now my goal is to STOP drinking McDonald's Sweet Tea...I love it and it is so bad for me. So I am sticking to water, milk and hot tea. I hope this helps keep me focused. KellyAnn and TheRoseWithin~Shannon

TheRoseWithin~Shannon
Hey Teena, if you like Tea ... have you tried oolong tea? I drink it daily (2-3 cups along with normal water intake). If curious: Health Benefits of Oolong Mind you, I do not sweeten it. It's a subtle flavored tea that I got used too and now even my kids enjoy it.
Teena
I have not tried oolong...I will give that a try next time I'm at the store. Its only 12:30 here and I'm about to make my 3rd trip to the bathroom since I got to work this morning...fun times! ash_bloom
I have s health, and downloaded the hydro coach. I weigh 315lbs, so half my body weight would be something like 150 some odd oz of water a day. The hydro coach says I should drink at least 110 oz. I usually drink about 60-70 oz of water a day, add in tea, and some days a soda or coffee.
RunningforHealing14
I think it depends on each individual. Right now I am drinking over 8 (16 oz.) water bottles a day because of low blood sugar problems. If I don't do that it will effect my energy levels drastically and I feel just just like lead in workouts. Just my genes... I suggest find out what works out for you. Hope this helps!!! Anne Lang
Good to know im on target with 9 8 oz glasses a day for my 130 pounds sad that all this water has not stoped my 24/7 hunger
KellyAnn
I calculate by 1/2 my bodyweight in ounces in water. So you are 130lbs Anne, then 65oz a day in water. Staylo14

Maizie88
On the topic of water consumption....i've just heard recently that if you aren't adding in the right minerals then our system just flushes it out (as oppose to keeping any to nourish our body). He said that if you pee a lot you are just defeating the purpose. What do you guys think? I always seen water consumption as a detox/flush so this made sense to me.....but now i'm thinking about minerals. Any thoughts on this? I know nothing about minerals. KellyAnn
Hey Maizie, I am huge water drinker. Lots a day. These mineral waters, idk. I just;ike plain water. If i am not feeling good, then maybe?? I am curious to what others think?? I believe in an alkaline body and therefore love vinegar, lemons, etc.... But i will not add them to my water. Its just me. I would rather eat a Lemon, Drink vinegar, etc.... Than touch my water. Not even fruit. Unless i am on vacation. How do you like it?? This is fun and intersting. Hugs. Maizie88
Hi KellyAnn, thanks for responding I like squeezing lemon into my water, but I won't put a wedge in it (don't want the chemicals from the peel in my water). I also do this with grapefruit. Drink vinegar?? eeeeee I don't know if I could do it. I will sometimes put a tiny amount of apple cider vinegar in my water, but just a very little. I was mentioning this to a woman at work yesterday, and she said her naturopath just got her on a bunch of minerals and she said it has already made a huge difference (only after 2 days) with her energy levels. Hmmmm. It's in liquid form which she said she does add to her water. I haven't gotten more details as to what minerals they are, but i will.
