  1. Right Kelly??? I hear ya. You think you are eating great and that dang wrap was crazy in calories. Go figure. It is the same way with salads, think you are making a great choice and it is loaded with calories. btw, It is ok to cheat once in awhile, we give it Saturdays, trust me, if you give it one day, you will be fine. Your body actually will burn more. We do it Saturdays. Healthy breakfast and then cheat the rest of the day. Eat what you want. It works. Happy Running!
  2. Hi Laura L, Welcome Back to you! I feel the same as you . Worked out and taught for years. Total burnout for years and gained it all back. Back at it again, but now it is way harder to get off. But I am doing it. You got this. We are all here to cheer each other on. Proud of you! woohoo! Are you starting it tomorrow? Happy running!

    The color run

Woohoo Michelle, CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU! Way to go. That felt good huh? Proud of you! Like my colors?? Just for you!
  4. Hi Bianca, Sounds like you are doing great. A treadmill is different than outside as the belt propels you forward. I think you would be a great candidate for the 10k app too. Let me know! Happy Running!
  5. Hi There, So, As a fitness instructor, when I cue for a cooldown, it means you slow down. In the 10K app, I walk. Sometimes if I am crazy, I will run the first two minutes of the cool down and then walk the rest. Cooldown, means cool down. YOU NEVER EVER want to just stop working out and go on and do something else. You can collapse. It is not a good idea. I walk, until the end. THen I usually do some stretching. Stretching is so important. '' It is not a stupid question and i am glad you asked it. I am sure there are others thinking the same thing. Welcome here and congrats on your 26.2 app. We are all here for each other. Keep us posted how you do. Happy Running!
  6. Ha, I am glad I am not the only one about the dark, lol. Run Safe. Sounds like you are working out other ways and having fun, that is what it is all about. enjoy

    speed/distance

Hey Chric, oh boy, do I know that one. I am 5'2" and even in the best shape of my life when I could do a 9 minute mile, I was still slow. My favorite ever was running my first and last marathon btw, a 90 year old lady passing me by and asking me if I wanted ibuprofen, LOL, and i was in amazing shape too, those short legs.. ha ha. I decided then, that I can only compete with myself, period. I like smaller races now and that is what I do. I am about a 12-14 minute mile now and I am perfectly ok with that. You will notice a difference when you start taking it outdoors. Road is way different than a treadmill. Happy for you and keep going. Keep us posted. Happy Running!

    Newbie!

Go Chris, you are awesome for starting this. You will become addicted to it for sure. I love being held accountable too. We are all here to cheer you on. Happy Running!
  9. I am with Farmgirl, well said. I do 3 days of this app, other days I weight train, I usually do Upper Body, one day, Lower Body one day and another day I cross train, meaning, whatever I feel like doing for exercise. Give yourself rest time when you are really feeling tired. I listen to my body and take a break. Like today, we are going Jeeping so there will be lots of workout there. I will climb a mountain today.... Have a great day!
  10. Hi There, Now for me???? I am a total wimp in the dark unless I have a buddy. But where I live in the country my life is in danger in the dark with all those animals out there, yikes. I would be running from scary looking eyeballs. lol Now if you can , maybe 1/2 before sunup where is almost light? Do you live in an area where there are lights? DO you have a gym or YMCA where they have a track? School where it is lit up?? I'm a woos, so dark out is not for me.. Look into those options. You can fit the 3 runs in on the weekend, but you risk losing ground if you are not working out the other days at all. If you are able to get at least 2-3 more workouts the other days, like weights, cardio, bodyshape, yoga, etc., then you might beok with running on the weekends. Or 2 on the weekends and 1 run during the week. In Nevada carrying a gun on our person is legal, when I run alone I carry a 22mag on my hip. But I am always nervous about it falling and shooting myself, lol - YIKES! So it is daytime running for me. You are doing great. Keep me posted. Happy Running!
  11. Hi Hayley. I added you on Instagram. I have a few of the toes shoes, but i live in the country and those mountain shoes are not good on rocks, lol. I miss wearing socks.. I am now using them as water shoes when I kayak. lol Check out ASICS shoes, and maybe buy one size bigger.. Happy Running!
  12. Hi Nola, You are probably losing inches. I was really discouraged the other day until I put my waist pack on for running and it was too loose. My pants and shirts are looser now too. I rarely weigh myself as I why do I want to be depressed? It wilmake me cry - MEAN SCALE, so i only weigh when I am feeling great. It will happen. Like Shelley said, change your diet too. That will help. Good Luck and keep us posted.
  13. Awesome Question, curious to the responses you get. I find myself more tired at night now but more energetic in the mornings. I hit the hay by 9, read til 10 and lights out. SNOOZE...... Sleep great. I used to take stuff to sleep , not anymore... Love how I feel..

    Running

Hi Austin, As a child I hate to give advice to you without first talking to a parent or to make sure you are cleared by a Dr. While I SOOOOO encourage kids to exercise and not sit behind a TV or a computer and play games, I hesitate in giving you advice that could hurt you. Start slow and go from there. Kate has given great advice on building up your stamina. Happy Running!
  15. You bet JoAnn, you are you and I would say the Fastest Walker. You will build up your strength as you go. Just give it time and do not be discouraged at all. Repeat days if you have to. Proud of you. Keep it up!
  16. Hi Angie, WOOHOOOOO, for beginning, we are all in this together. You got this. You are preparing by doing the app, you can do it. Keep us posted on your journey. There is a lot of support here. Good Luck!
  17. Hi All, I think we are all in the same boat here. I feel the same way. I have been working out really hard, (I am a Paleo girl), I have lost inches but not a lot of weight. Like Iona said, you have to change your diet. No more cocktails for me, even though I am under my calorie goal for the day, I have to cut that out as it is not helping at all. I HATE DIETS!, so Meat, Veggies, Fruits, NO PROCESSED food. Cheat for 1-2 meals a week.. that is it. Me??? It is Pizza on friday nights (thin crust), and maybe a dessert on saturdays. Your body needs that and trust me, you will not gain weight eating it either. my Husband absolutely loves The 4 Hour Body Diet. Great book, great concept. Meat, Veggies, Beans, One huge Cheat day on saturdays. It is a good one. I LOVE beans, but uhhhh, you know,,,lol. They are not friendly to you sometimes. Primal Blueprint Paleo 4 Hour Body Weight Watchers and so on. You have to choose what you like... MyFitnessPal is a great app too and there are a lot of us on that one helping each other. ANways, good luck and ask questions. On my site www.Cavegirlcancook.com under health and fitness tab, there are calculators for you to see what you need to eat every day , try it out. Good Luck! Keep us posted.
  18. Ha Lisa, funny. I will not ever run without a waist pack, I love my water. I have had the same one for years. It is great. I also like the ones that have 3-4 little bottles aroundit, might buy that one , one day. I have a CameBak too, but that dang thing you suck on for water makes me gag, lol. I hate it... IDK it does, but it does. Thanks fr your encouraging words Guest (whoever you are)..... HUGS
  19. Hey Shelley, Hey, don't be hard on yourself. A guy just mentioned on here that , "Your mind will give up before your body does"! I love that. Just do a do over, you do not have to do the week over. You got this and be proud of yourself.. Keep on Going! You are out there doing it! Proud of you!
  20. Hi Yak, Welcome here and congrats to you for Week 4, Day1. Awesome. Cool that your wife is a triathlete, thats a motivator. I find the app making me want to run more. I love it. Keep us posted and YOU CAN DO IT!!!!! Happy Running!
  21. Hi Hayley, I responded to you yesterday and I do not think it posted. Anyways, congrats on beginning. AS long as you have been cleared by a DR., then happy running. They do make those toe shoes now which are incredible. You could try those. We are all here for each other. There is an accountabilty group in the General Chat topic. Lots post there. There might be some that would love to follow you on instagram and be your buddy.. I will check ya out, but these forums are amazing and we are all in it together. Good luck and keep us posted.
  22. Great ecbpdx, Thanks for that information. That is nice to know. I appreciate it.
  23. Hi There, Now this is just my opinion, but if you can already run a 5K and and have been training, I would start with the 10k app myself. That is where I began as I can run a 5k and I work out 5x a week. But, that is me. Why don't you try it and see where you are at? By the way, Congrats on being here. Welcome and keep up posted! Happy Running!
