    Week2 Day1

Hey all! Im new to this running thing. Recently had so skin taken away and can now run without a round of applause from my tummy! So I feel I am pretty fit, always smashed my cardio component in workouts and struggled with strength based excersise. The first week has been a breeze in this app. However, i started week2 this week, and I really felt quite unfit! My legs felt like they wouldn't run like i wanted them to and was puffed out super quick. Lead legs and puffed lung with only and extra 30 seconds of jogging. I have been walking every other day inbetween doing the running. Did anyone else find this stage a big step

    Can l do this

Hi all Im middle aged and are going onto day 3, just a beginner. I also have started Crossfit and part of crossfit is running, sometimes upto 1600 mts. No all in one go. But increments. So can manage 400mts in one go, but with the feet dragging along the road. So in order to help myself l was recommended this app. So far its been a great little motivated app, just when my lungs are struggling for air in the run l hear that wonderful dong and walk for 90 seconds. It keeps me going along with my little dog that runs and walks along side me 85% of the time. If she can do it then l can. Without this apo l found l would run then walk, but easily drop the ball when my lungs started struggling, not anymore, not sure how l will go week four or five. The potential is there for more strides forward rather than backwards. So heres hoping l can do this before knees give me trouble.

    Chasing my girl

I've needed to lose weigh for a while...kind of hard to blame the extra pounds on baby weight when your baby is 10. That baby has fallen in love with running. She wants to run 5k's all of the time. So...I'm sucking it up (and sucking in air) and am going to figure this out. Tonight was week one, day one. I really didn't think I'd even be able to jog a full minute. I surprised myself. Now if I could just breathe, I might can do this.

  4. I think that I have been tricked (or have tricked myself) into thinking that the fact that I can run for thirty minutes makes me invincible, and that all the damage done by 10 years of sedentary living has just faded away on the way to 5k. It hasn't, and running for 30 minutes is wonderful, but my body is nowhere near capable of what it used to be capable of, and I will have to work on it... for now, I will settle for warming up by walking and doing post running Yoga when I come back, which will both stretch and strengthen me. I will also do some sort of Yoga on my non run days - and gently ease my way back to the days I had easy access to my toes (without bending my knees...)

  5. @ Anne - I didn't mean that running was a chore, only that the planning might become a chore. As a women with a family I am constantly planning, coordinating, etc. etc... it was really convenient just having to show up and participate, which is what running with the app is like. Anyway, today was my first independent, post app run, and it was a disaster. I had previously planned to skip the warmup walk and do a dynamic walkup instead, thus making it easier to start my tracking app (whichever I decide on) when I leave and start running right away. Found a dynamic warm up in runners world, but what they failed to mention is that one should warm up for the warmup... I think I over stretched (don't know how to explain it - cramped or over stretched) my thighs and inner thighs and upper arm and right shoulder. I even considered not running, but decided to brave it all the same. I have to climb a flight of stairs from my house to road level, which I could barely do - my muscles cramped or something midway... I got to the top, and decided that I might be able to run it out, so I pressed go on endomondo and on map my run and went for it. I could only run for about 17 of the 30 minutes I had intended to run. My legs would just not push the pavement back. Good thing is that when I came back, I did some post run yoga, from an app I downloaded (daily yoga) and that was good. I think I will go back to walking warmup and not do dynamic warmups until I am back in the Yoga swing and stronger.

Don't let week 5 scare you. Your brain is screwing with you. Your body is totally ready if you've completed week 4. Your brain is lazy and hates running and will try and defeat you. Ignore it. You are in charge

    I am 274 pounds...

I was 326 pounds and lost 120. There was definitely a lot of loose skin but over time it has shrunk away considerably. I suspect wiuth you being less than half my age your younger skin with higher elasticity will heal up in time but consider this... If you're going to have a pouch of skin, would you rather it be full or empty? Consider it a battle scar that in time, will go away!! It's worth it!! BTW I'm about 207 today(OMG loss down to 119 LOL)l
