Hi I am new to this app. I am not and never have been a runner. I am looking to get myself in shape & lose weight so I can enjoy my grandchildren!! I tried a few times to do a Couch to 5K program only to give up. I am so uncomfortable on a daily basis with my weight issues that I have nowhere else to turn. I am praying that this forum & program give me the motivation I need to continue. My ultimate goal is to lose 60 lbs and run a 5k - I will start with my mini goal of 5 lbs and complete week 1 of this program. In other posts that I have read it is ok to repeat days so I know & expect week 1 may take longer then 1 week. My first experience with day 1 - I only completed halfway. Need to start somewhere..

Welcome and good luck. When I originally did the c25k I stopped and actually just walked for the first week I was that unfit. Then I did the week one for two weeks and three first week was really shallow steps. But i got there. Just take it at your pace and shorten your steps, head up and shoulders back (helps with the breathing or in my case. The gasping lol)

Pushin60, feel free to repeat any day. Each time you repeat a session, you will get noticeably stronger. I know you'll be able to finish Day 1 soon. I understand that your weight is making you uncomfortable, I am currently 76 lbs overweight. If you train consistently and listen to your body (adjust your posture/stride if you feel pain, slow down to a pace where you can talk, etc.), your body WILL get stronger, you WILL slim down, and if you eat a calorie deficient (eat less calories than your body burns), you WILL lose weight.

It took me a long time before I started loosing weight (even though the inches have been coming off) because I was reducing my calories very gradually.

Pushin60, you can do this!

Its three run workouts a week. It starts off by dividing the time between running segments and walking segments to start building endurance slowly :) its great for beginners and those who want to get back into shape at their own pace
