Katien
Hi! My name is Katie and I'm new here. I am about 50 lbs overweight and have never been a runner, even as a kid, but I have always had dreams of running! So I started c25k yesterday. I made it through the first 60 seconds of running and it nearly collapsed me! I wasn't able to keep running, but I did the best I could with power walking. My question is if my ability is so low, will it really get easier? I can't even imagine doing week 2!! I may be on week one for quite a while. I'm going to keep trying! NoExcuses
It might just be semantics but, personally, I don't think it gets any easier. I just get better at it. After barely completing the first day, I couldn't imagine doing it again much less what the future weeks had in store. But, lo and behold, the next time I ran I was able to push just a little bit harder, go a little bit faster and run just a little bit longer. It's those incremental improvements that add up to the completion of the first week and then the completion of the program. Stick with it. Guest TrishE
Noexcuses hit the nail on the head. It's a very popular saying but it rings true, "It never gets easier, you just get stronger."
djplong
I couldn't agree more. I had a hard time the first day but I made it. I saw the schedule for Week 2 and didn't know if I could do it. Week 3 seemed an impossible jump. Each time, I bulled through it and made it. Week 4 finally got me when I just couldn't do the repeated 5 minute runs. I kept hammering at it - slowing down at times, looking for flatter neighborhoods to run in and, eventually (last Sunday) I finished Week 4 even though it really took 2 weeks. Yesterday was the first of Week 5 and, again, I couldn't quite finish the multiple 5 minute runs. That wasn't a failure as there were still improvements from the previous run (I also track progress with MapMyRun+) and I'll be at it again on Saturday. ash_bloom
I've never ran. My motto was "i don't run unless there's a clown with a bloody knife chasing me". I'm 32, and 315lbs. I just completed day 2 at 100%. And barely got through day 1 3 days ago. Know your limits. And goodluck!
Maizie88
I agree, it can only get easier. I do admit though, I have always had a hard time with running. It seems to exhaust me a million times more than any other form of exercise...and i don't quite know why? I would love to run, but instead I have found a lot of other exercises I enjoy and can seem to handle better (ie. bike riding, work out classes, etc.). Donielle
I tried the program 4 years ago when I was about 50 lbs heavier than I am now. I got through about 2 days then slacked off. Hopefully I can do better this time!
mcgold76
I had to repeat week 1. After that I never had to repeat. At week 7 now. First few weeks I dreaded my runs. Now I look forward to it. Might not get easier but gets better

Hermes
Definitely doesn't get easier. I think what happens is that you get motivated with each successful session and you become more mentally tough and so are able to push on through. Keep going! You'll get there. KellyAnn
Yes, Hermes, it is tough, but sometimes my brain says to stop, and I want to give up, but my body says go go go. Sometimes my brain wins, ugghhh!! It will get easier as you get stronger.. Good Luck to you!!!
