Lynniedn
Well, just ran across this forum and got excited because the one thing I need is motivation and encouragement! I am turning 44 in a few days and am in the worst shape of my life. I want to change. I envision myself changing. I just need to get into action. I completed a half marathon in 2010 ( run/walk) and it was the best feeling. I want that feeling back. Will post after my workout this evening! Wish me luck. Lynniedn
Ok...finished day one! Wasn't able to do all rotations of the running ( only hit four) but I sped the walking up when I couldn't run. Still feel really good that I got that far! I can do this! aohcms and Azatol

Val 13
Ok so today will be my first day training. I haven't run long distances, or even sorry ones! In almost twenty years. I want to run a 5 k with my two daughters on March first. I am out out of shape but have been working out in a gym for three weeks. I am encouraged yet also realistic. Last time I tried to walk, jog, etc, it killed my knees. I will turn sixty next month. I am determined to run again. Any thoughts?

Lynniedn
Val, you can do it! Just one foot in front of the other! I have knee issues as well and did my day one yesterday. It wasn't easy but it was empowering!
TheRoseWithin~Shannon
Val, your gym commitment of three weeks is awesome! Congrats! I am also have my sights fixed on a 5K March run, so I will be cheering you on from afar, yet very near in heart! Definitely peruse the forums AND post any questions you may have about your knees. There is much to be found - tons of support, encouragement and inspiration to receive from others growing, (running/walking) through the same thing ... including knee issues! I've been visited by the knee demon ... he's making me pay attention to other body parts I may need to (must) strengthen and care for. Warmest of welcomes to the boards!! Cheers! ps. Love that your two daugthers inspired you! What a fun and colorful month to run a first 5K! Lynn, right on! Grats on Day 1!! Celebrate with gusto!! As you shared above, one foot in front of the other! Those days, minutes and miles will add up and each success is worthy of celebration! I have to giggle ... every time, and I mean every time I see the phrase, 'one foot in front of the other' I start humming or singing this... classic tune. Powerful transformation comes to mind!! I'm melting away! (in a good way)! LOL
