Guest Jay R
Hello, today was my first day doing the C25K. I am 17 and used to play almost every sport out there. I was extremely athletic and in great shape. As I began to get older, my academics became more important to me and my sports started to take up too much of my time. I quit until I played two, eventually one, and now none. Unfortunately, I was not blessed with high metabolism in my genetics and I am now slightly overweight and although am not shameful of my appearance, I am not happy with where my physical appearance is at. I started today but found it extremely difficult to finish and had to stop about 3/4 through it. Is it normal for other people to have not been able to complete day one all the way? What can I do to help push through? Advice would be great, thanks!
Guest Thomasa
I look at this method as a system that builds on its self. Once you can do one "day" at the speed they want, you can move forward. I'd say just do your very best and once you can do day one move on to the next day. You'll be amazed at how quickly you advance. Timb113
Jay, it happens quite a bit. Getting started can be the hardest part, but it's like any exercise, your body needs to adjust and grow stronger. Keep doing day one until you can complete it, then move on to day two. This might happen during a number of the weeks throughout the program, but there is nothing wrong with that. Just keep working at it! Good luck. sdbeachgirl

TCBERRY
Hi! My name is Tobi. I started today, and it was all I could do to finish. I turned 40 on Thanksgiving Day and am out of shape. I am really excited about what this can do for me. I am really wanting a re-start to life this year. I already have a local 5K picked out in March for Cerebral Palsy. I wish everyone good luck, and I appreciate any encouragement as well. Happy New Year! TCBERRY and Azatol

Casagarber@yahoo.com
I have been wondering the same thing. Pretty sure you are supposed to run every other day but I could be wrong.
Timb113
Vicki and Casagarber, yes you should be running every other day. Your body needs time to recover from each run. That's how you'll get stronger. You can always do some different form of exercise on other days, like lifting or cross training, but you want to give those running muscles time to rebuild. KellyAnn
Thanks Timb, every other day is great. I usually do 4x a week. I repeat a day. Then crosstrain the other days. Weights, hike, crossfit, etc.. I take weekends off. I love daily life exercise the best. Sounds like you all are doing great. Keep it up. Sandee_Bee
Hello folks! I just completed day 1. It was really bad Lol. My dog didn't even change his pace when I was "running". This is just where I'm at! Anyway the sides of my calves were killing me, any advice? TIA
KellyAnn
Hi Sandee, Well, those days happen sometimes. Don't let it get you down. Start again another day. For your calves, make sure you are really warmed before you start running. I stop and make sure I stretch my calves good as this is my problem area. Stretching while warm is the best. Never. Ever stretch with cold muscles. Great job by the way. Hug that dog.
caralz
I am waiting to start when I figure the c25k app out. Could one of you explain how it works? I have an android phone. Is it just a tracker or does it do something while you are running. Does it have music or how would you use it if you need to listen to iheart? Thanks
