I've got some lofty goals, but I've waited too long to get better each day!
    Short term:
    - Score a 280 on my Army APFT doing 70 push-ups, 70 situps, and running my 2-mile in 14:00 in June
    - run a 5k with my niece on 04 May
    - run a 26.2 with a friend on 11 May
    - finish the heavy ruck challenge (26.2 miles with 35 lbs) in September
    - get back to ideal weight of 200 lbs.
    Long term:
    - Run two marathons in 2020
    - Run the Army 10-miler
I'll keep you all posted on the progress, but I'd love some accountabili-buddies to help me stay on track!

I started this in February and re-did weeks 1,2 a number of times. I’m now on week 5 Day 3 and nervous about finishing it.
I signed up for a 5k May 11 and my goal is to do the best I can.
I’m 63 and a lung cancer survivor. I had a upper lobectomy October 2018 so breathing is a challenge.
My short term goal is to run the 5k and build my lungs up.

After my 5k on St. Patrick's Day I decided to sign up for another one. I'm working on being able to actually run the entire 5K on Thanksgiving this year. I have a couple months to go until the next one and am hoping I can make some improvements. Signing up for another race hopefully will help keep my motivation moving forward!

I originally downloaded this app in 2017 and gave up early.  But January  this year I got a super supportive sports bra, tight compression pants (I hate bouncing) and a no excuses attitude.  My calendar says run, I run (rain...I run wet, sun...I still run wet cause of the sweat).  Like silver Pi, I walk during run times if I have to but I repeat weeks until I can do the whole week running during  the run time.  And guess what I did today?  I ran a full 5k even though the app said stop running, I hadn’t reached the 5k distance yet.  So I kept running for 10 more minutes after the app said stop.    I ran slow but I ran 5k.  Distance on picture does not reflect ten minutes beyond end of C25k workout.

That's a good idea to keep track of what I'm eating. Then I will have a good idea what nutrients I might be lacking and if I'm even eating enough.

Try to find a balance... little bit of all the good stuff. Meat, fish, dairy, gains, vegetables and fruits. Well, all of the things you can eat out of those groups. Get myfitnesspal and have a look at how it breaks down nutrition/calories/macros. Use it for a week to just put in what you eat, not to make adjustments. Just a week to get a snapshot of your diet. Once I got food sorted out I feel loads better. Down 14 pounds and I eat like 6 times a day

Good for you! Make sure your pulmonologist is aware of your new exercise routine. Take it slow, you will get there.

Hi Everyone. I am 67 and have COPD/Emphysema.  I also have always been a couch potato.  I recently went to a Pulmonologist and my lungs are only working at 63%!  I smoked for 30 years and quit 22 years ago.  As you age your lungs decline so my lungs will just get even worse.  I decided to do this program to try to make my lungs stronger, and started out on day 1 and could only run 20 seconds before I was completely out of breath.  I think it will take a year to get to a 5 k.  I am going to repeat day one for a week and see if I can go on to day 2 the next week.  Right now am determined to do this!

I repeated week  1 and week 4. I never in my lif thought I could ever run 28 minutes without stopping but I just did it twice.  In two days I am going for 30 and I am signrd up for my first 5k a week later.

4th floor?  I'd get winded,  too.
You're right that it isn't easy. Many of us repeat weeks, but I really think it's worth it to get in shape.

I haven’t run in years! I have put on weight and am completely out of shape! I get winded walking up to my apt on the 4th floor! But I’m tired of complaining and going to do this even though I know it’s not going to be easy!!

Best advice is to not give up! Take it one day at a time and keep trying. Celebrate the little victories. As long as you are moving you are not standing still!

There are a slew of them on youtube. They have some that are just full body workouts without weights. They are catered to be short in duration and you work your way up... have a look around you will find what works best for you. I use myfitnesspal too and love it. It sure keeps me accountable!

Thank you so much, Silver Pie!
I will go back to week 2 then, for now. That sounds more doable at the moment. I didn't have to repeat week 1 or 2 but now I've come to week 3 I'm kind of stuck.
    Thanks again for your support!
    I needed that.  :-)

Week 4 is hard for me too. I think I will stay at this level until I really can run 3 minutes and 5 minutes.
