A few days ago I made my 3rd attempt at WK6 D3 and had to stop after a few strides. The dreaded shin splint got me. I'll be biking until it heals.

Two bad days -
So a few days ago I set out on the 22 minute run. Broke down after 7 minutes. Tried again after a day's rest. Barely made it to 5 minutes before I had to start walking. I'm really peed off. How come I could do 20 minutes non stop in week 5, then do so poorly on wk6 d3? Very disappointed!

Great! Congrats! Especially considering what I said made absolutely no sense!
-
Absolutely right, KellyAnn. Duh! What was I saying/thinking?

Definitely doesn't get easier. I think what happens is that you get motivated with each successful session and you become more mentally tough and so are able to push on through. Keep going! You'll get there.

That's great! Congrats! 35 minutes with some walking is not bad. Faster than me anyway.

Completed day 2 of week 6. It wasn't too bad. Funny how sometimes the more difficult sessions feel easier than the "easier" ones. So far the 20 minute non stop run seemed easier than the sessions where there's quite a bit of walking. Now I'm resting up for wk6d3. That's gonna be tough (I think).

Might be the 2 days of rest the nearly did me in

Mine never burned before. Just a w6d1.
-
Well, I got past wk6d1 but it was pure torture. Calves burned. Legs felt heavy. I don't understand why, considering on Friday I did wk5d3 with much less agony. Who knows how the body works? I hope wk6d2 isn't like this

11 min per mile pace?? That's really fast. No wonder you had problems. Slow down, to a 6 minute mile pace and I'm sure you'll make it with ease. Then build up your speed. I'm just trying to get to the point where I can complete the 5k distance. I'm not worrying about speed until after that. Good luck on your next try.

I was in the same shape as you. 1 minute was torture. I eventually gave up. Then 3 months later I decided to give it a try again. I was tired of feeling crappy. Now I'm past week 5. Don't give up. Unless something is medically wrong with you, you can do this. Patience, determination and perseverance will get you there. Repeat a stage until you are comfortable with it. Don't worry about how long it takes. Best of luck to you.

Took almost 8 weeks, but I clobbered W5D3 today!

Well done!! I took care of that stage yesterday and I dreaded it too. Mine was slow too, but just going for 20 minutes is big. Amazing what you achieved! You must feel great shedding over 70 lbs. Looking forward to when you smack the 5k run out of the ballpark! -
I completed w5d3 this morning. It was really slow but I didn't stop. First time I've been able to jog for 20 minutes in more than 15 years. After 4x bypass heart surgery 10 years ago my goal was to run a mile. It never happened. Not even close. Now I can do that. Now my goal is the dreaded 5k. Never would have got this far without C25K and the motivational posts hers. Thanks to everyone. Now I am more determined than ever.
