fouraussiekids
Me!! And me as well. Someone? Anyone? Where to begin is the biggest question. Do we take it slow and just start exercising or changing diet or jump all in and do both. I did yoga on Saturday and I'm still sore from it. How do I know if I'm overdoing it? torus_ot
Take it slow and just start exercising AND changing diet. Listen to your body but push it forward! If you can run 60 sec, try to do a little more, etc. Feeling sore is OK, pain - reduce the pace or take the rest day.
KellyAnn
WElcome here, Â Yes, take it slow at first. Â Eating healthy is key and will aid in weightlosS. Â As we age, our metabolism slows down and I know that one myself... Â REV it up with protein and exercise and it should melt off. Â Good Luck and we are here for you! FastEddy
60, male and starting over after surgery and several months of overeating and only walking 2-4 miles/day. The similarities between male and female in this realm FAR outweigh the differences. You can do it if I can! And vice versa, so please don't stop :-) Diet is essential because I can negate all my exercise in one stupid meal. MyFitnessPal makes it effortless to track total calories - I can eat anything from anywhere, sit-down rest. fast food rest. or home cooking and it knows the calories. Then C25K updates it - posts directly into it- all for free.
FastEddy
FourAussie, you're overdoing it if you injure anything. Some soreness is normal but use judgement - pain is the forecast to injury ... It's just a matter of how BAD the pain is, where, and how much. I think if I have considerable pain two days after running, I'm pushing too hard. But what do I know... E. PattyKopp
I am a 59 year old female and have been doing weight watchers since April 2015. I am down 94 pounds. I try to walk 10000 steps a day and now trying to work on the couch to 5k program. It can be done!
Val23
51 and just started this on w1d3 tomorrow finding it really hard and will probably stay on the week one next week as well just to get a bit of fitness up. I actually hate it while doing it but have a great sense if achievement when finished. On the off days I do stairs and some strength work. Just moving is good. KRucks
Yes! Another over 50 starter here. I have been watching several 30 something family members getting into shape using this program. Not telling them about my dream to run a 5k in case it doesn't happen. So glad to have found this thread for support and encouraging words and advice. Go team!! Val23
Not looking forward to week two either but we are tough we can do it
bretd1979
Week two just increases your jog & walk times by 30 seconds. It's a very gradual approach, but it's not a bad idea to repeat a week if you don't feel comfortable moving on. The important thing is that you're doing it. Good job! KRucks
Hows it going everyone?! Week 2 was ok- started some weight training with 15 pound weights. Squats, and another leg exercise that made me SO sore. Anyone else adding weight training to their schedule?
