Kat94
I procrastinated in buying new running shoes because I didn't want to spend the money. I recently purchased new ones (which I love) but it's too late. Because I was running in shoes that no longer had the support or cushioning the metacarpal in my big toe got aggravated and has swelled up to the point I can hardly stand and walk. My tip is to pay attention to your shoes and make sure that you have enough support in them! I haven't been able to continue my training, but am hoping that in a week I will be back. Let's hope this anti-inflammatory prescription works quickly.
Guest TrishE
Great advice! Thank you for sharing your cautionary tale. Its true proper running shoes are very important but they are also very expensive so I can definitely understand why people put off buying them. I hope you get better soon kat! good luck
Kat94
It's still sore, but I can at least walk without a limp I'm going to go walking tomorrow morning, but will walk carefully. Not being able to jog sucks!
clubcraft
Get the right running shoes. Wearing the right running shoes is the key to comfort and injury prevention. Visit a running specialty store to get fitted for the right running shoes for your foot type and running style. Also, make sure you don't run in worn-out running shoes – they should be replaced every 300-400 miles

Also, make sure you don't run in worn-out running shoes – they should be replaced every 300-400 miles i did just this. went into a running store (fleet feet) and they measured my feet while sitting and standing. they watched how i walk and how i run. i told them around what i wanted to spend. the woman helping me brought out 3 pairs to try on. watched me run in them. none of them felt "really" good, so she got a pair of new balance 880's and they are fantastic. the whole visit to buy 1 pair of shoes took just over an hour and was totally worth it. i cant recommend it enough. danrunnerblog
I totally agree! Wearing the right running shoes is key. For me, you can never go wrong with an Adidas Ultraboost. It's a bit pricey but it's totally worth the investment. Best running shoes ever. But if you are on a budget, I suggest to go for the Asics ones. Here's a good list. http://runnerclick.com/best-asics-running-shoes/
