  1. Way to go on your weight loss! Other than what I was required to run in P.E in high school, I've never ran either and that was 15 yrs ago. I'm on wk6d3 today and I've been able to do every workout so far. So you can do this too! Keep us updated on your progress.
  2. Hi Dess, I completely understand! I have 4 kids and unless it want to wake up and run before my husband leaves for work, or run after the kids go to bed - which I'm not apt to do right now - I run inside on an elliptical. The first few weeks I would run at 5 - 5.5mph, but week 4 and 5 I've had to cut back to between 4 - 4.5mph so I would have endurance to get to the the end of the running segment. I just completed wk5d3 and was able to run the 20 mins without running less than 4mph and I was barely out of breath at the end.
  3. Good luck, Tori! You can do this! I started this program at 50lbs overweight, and I just completed week 5. We're here for you!
  4. Welcome Brendan! Good luck with your preparations for the ADS!
  5. Whenever you need support, you've come to the right place! You can do this! As for diet, make small changes a little at a time. My husband has lost 30 pounds by slowly tweaking his diet, by either adding something healthier one week, eating smaller portions or deleting something that wasn't healthy. You can get healthier! it's just finding the method that works for you. Good luck and have fun!
  6. We'll be rooting for you!
  7. Always stretch after your workout. That's an important step to never skip. And only stretch warm muscles, never before a workout when you're muscles are cool and you're more likely to do damage.
  8. Do what you feel is right for you, if you think you need that extra week, then no shame in doing week 3 again. I thought week 4 day 1 was rough too, and seriously debated doing week 3 again too. I figured I'd give wk4d2 a try though and see if I'd feel better, and i did improve by by a little bit, so I continued on with the week. So do what feels right. Congrats on the weight loss!
  9. Good for you trying to get heathlier. And I'm sure your daughter will be beaming with pride when her dad finishes the race with her!
  10. Congratulations on your little one and on getting back out there! Good luck and have fun :-)
  11. Welcome! You're never too old to try something new, you've got this!
  12. Welcome back, Brent. I am one of those people that loves reading about others' stories. Thanks for yours.
  13. Sounds like you might have pulled your hamstrings. I would say alternate putting heat and ice on it, and flush out all the bad stuff. Take some ibuprofen too. If you're in that much pain, I wouldn't run on it, you're body tells you that you're in pain for a reason, and you don't want to cause further injury. When you think you're ready, then start back up again.
  14. Good luck on your journey to a healthy lifestyle. We are here for all the encouragement you need.
  15. Well you came to the right place! You can do this! We'll be here to encourage you along the way.
  16. Best of luck to you , Nellie. I'm sure you'll pick back up running like it's nothing. You've got this!
  17. This is is a great place to start! Way to go on the 39 mile walk, that shows perseverance. Good luck and have fun!
  18. I'll check it out. Thank you, KellyAnn!
  19. If you get an answer to the energy question, let me know! I have this theroy that my kids suck my energy out of me, and that's why they're so hyper all the time and I'm always feeling drained! Just don't forget to stay hydrated and make sure to refuel after exercising - your body needs it!
  20. Way to go on the new life style! I fairly new to thie program too, so I don't have any tips. I'm also not a runner at all, and I've managed to get to week 3 so far, so you can do it too! Keep up the good work!
  21. Congrats on your previous weight loss! And you can so do this! Beach time in May, here you come!
  22. Thanks for the welcome. I'll definitely check out the paleo diet.
  23. Hi everybody, I'm a little late in introducing myself, as I just completed Wk3D3 today, but better late than never! I'm a 31 yr old stay-at-home mom to four kids. They are my inspiration to get fit! I've been hovering in the 190s for 8yrs now, in that time I've had all my kids... I'm so done with the way my body looks, especially after what 4 pregnancies have done to it. My husband and I started taekwondo a year and a half ago. I'd like to say that I'm more fit because of it, but I haven't lost any weight. Now I'm trying to add the running in on my off days from karate, and also to start a good healthy diet (hi, name is mea and I'm addicted to sugar). My goal is to be able to run the annual autism awareness 5k at the beginning of April, in support of my son.
  24. You can do this! Awesome job working toward your 3rd degree! What type of martial arts do you take?
