  1. Hi Everyone - I've been running off and on for a few years now. I use the term running loosely as it's a combination of walk when I need to and jog when I can. I am slow at about 12mph have been doing between 3-5 miles/day 4 or 5 days/week with other exercise on poor weather or super busy days. There are some steep inclines on my route so not sure if this is part of what makes my numbers so low. Would it be most sensible for me to start on day 1 the C25K? I like to stay out and exercise for about an hour and really hate to cut my workout short and potentially walk more than I do now. I don't want to get less fit and exercise less but I would like to improve my stamina/speed a bit. Any advice appreciated!!

  2. I had just started running several years ago when I broke my ankle. The orthopedist, due to my age ( mid 40s then), never having run before and being overweight, told me I'd never be a runner. I believed him for a few years. Now, at 51 and a grandmother, I'm ready to prove him wrong. My first goal is to simply complete C25k training and continue to transition my diet to plant based-increasing my compliance to 80%.

  3. I’m a 52 years old aging athlete and have never picked up running. I had a new friend ask me recently, “Do you run?” and my answer was “Only when something is chasing me”, which is only partially true because I do chase that fuzzy ball around the tennis court on a pretty regular basis. Unfortunately I think I may have over did it and either stained a muscle in my forearm or have tendonitis, either way most of things I love to do are off limits indefinitely. I need to be active, I’m in a much better place emotionally when I can do something athletic; however I’m limited right now so I picked up running. I have no intention of running a 5K, but by the time I get to the end of this program I may feel different. In the meantime I will be absorbing as much as I can about technique and breathing....you name it. I have a ton to learn and time to do it so I hope you all can help.

  4. I made it to middle of week 5 in the latter part of April and stopped to go on Vacation! I really can tell the difference in not being active. I’m starting over tomorrow. I got this

    Training for April 5k

Today I ran for 10 minutes and 5 seconds without a walk break between. I have never run that long. The run was slightly downhill which helped, and it was towards the end of my run. For some reason, I always run better after 25-30 minutes.. I'm not sure if I will be able to run the 10K I've committed to in October, but if I continue to improve I think it can be done. I'll probably see if I can do another 5K before then and, hopefully, I won't be sick and will be able to have a faster pace/time.

  6. Great job! I’m starting over and finishing this time. If you can get up and do it with being sick I know I’ll make it.
