Jigi
Hi all, Ive been struggling a bit on week 5 day 3- havent actually tried it yet, been doing day 1 and day 2 several times already. Feel like its such a huge hurdle and need to be in the right headspace to even attempt it as I dont want to fail. I did however manage to run 13 minutes straight today. What are some of your tips or tricks to get through it mentally? Thanks!
torus_ot
1. Slow your pace! 2. Music 3. Start running W5D2 and add "bonus" run to it. Wen your total run time will be +20 min, then you know you can do W5D3 (My W5D2 was 2x8min runs plus 5min bonus ride with pace 5.2) Good luck, you can do it! Jigi
Woo hoo. Finally managed to get over the 20 minute mental hurdle today. Just kept pushing through it and slowed pace down to 8.0km/hr, was the best feeling ever being able to overcome the mental struggle. Now just to see if I can repeat it again

blayne
Oh i go at 7.5 kph. I was thinking mph. Haha 4 kph is pretty darn slow. Jigi
DebsA
I did day 2 twice then amazingly managed day 3 with only about a 10 second stop after about 5 minutes. Once I did that I was fine for the rest of the way. Can't actually believe I managed it. When I went onto week 6 day 1 today it seemed like a breeze! One thing I have found is that listening to audiobooks helps me better than music. Although you don't get the "pace" (and I run incredibly slowly) I find they make me concentrate more on the story and less on how much my legs are hurting! gilf
I agree with DebsA. Audiobooks keep me going. I struggled with W5D3. Although I was moving at a slow pace, I still had to stop 3 times for about 30 sec during the 20 min run. Looking forward to W6D1!
Insidia
"Brute force" seems to be the way that works for me. I imagine the app as a personal trainer with the support and encouragement of a drill sergeant. Whenever I want to stop even though I know pushing harder isn't going to hurt me, I just imagine what my drill-sergeant-trainer would say to me for wanting to stop. My brain automatically yells at me and it motivates me to keep going because it's usually right. I haven't had to stop for a legitimate health reason yet and each time I push myself a little harder, I usually come out of it feeling great, and suddenly the next day doesn't seem so bad. I'm apprehensive about tomorrow and since I'm changing my scenery, I don't know how well I will do. But I'm going to try! Insidia
