admin
http://www.zenlabsfitness.com/difference-running-treadmill-running-pavement/ As you gear up to get started on your running routine, one of the most important things that you might be asking yourself is where to do your runs. While some people have a srong preference of either the treadmill or outside, others may not be so sure. Is one better than the other? Would you see enhanced results running outdoors compared to on a treadmill? Or perhaps the treadmill is better? By understanding the differences between the two, you can make a more informed decision on where to do your runs. Guest Guest
Nice article. Thanks for sharing.. The treadmill can be a great training tool and essential for those of us who live in harsh weather environments (both hot and cold). However, don’t neglect the specific skills you need to develop by running outside on occasion. 0tr4b7r3

Guest Heather
Has anyone trained on a treadmill for a 5k? So I am in TX and while I prefer to run outside, the weather lately has been prohibitive. So I am probably going to train mostly on the treadmill. But my end goal is to run a 5k. Has anyone done it? Thanks, Heather runningtowards, Dystopianworld and 0tr4b7r3
Dystopianworld
I have before. I have since lost my conditioning. So I'm reconditioning inside on the treadmill and slowly working my way up. I have to have music because its a bit boring. I found it easier once I got a pace down. Afterwards youll want to jog the neighborhood because you get bored. I highly recommend it with the heat (I also am in TX. 0tr4b7r3
Guest Tikiwooki
I've started using a treadmill because I find its easier on my body than running outside. I'm quite overweight and am just losing weight after having a baby. I never used to run on a treadmill but I guess the weight is having a significant impact on my frame. 0tr4b7r3
Guest Wayne
I started running on a treadmill in September of last year and I've lost 40lbs. Want to run a 5k 0tr4b7r3 and 57165
Guest Beagle
Running on a treadmill is safer. After a sexual assault 35 years ago when I was running at age 14, I find that the treadmill brings me the peace that I can't get outdoors (where I always feel like someone is behind me, even today, even after years of therapy.) But nothing can stop me from running! . Bring on that belt. I love it! PlainJaneSC82, Katmat4 and 0tr4b7r3
plakta
Hi everyone. I'm thinking of purchasing a Sole F63 (I'm on a budget). Do you recommend this treadmill? Any others (under $1k)? Cheers dianalynn and 0tr4b7r3
Guest Candy
I got a Golds Gym one on sale on Amazon - it was under $500 at the time with delivery. It's huge but I will see if I can find a link to paste. 0tr4b7r3
Guest Guest
It's a Golds Gym trainer 720 treadmill and is $568 delivered or $648 assembled - it's very heavy and requires 2 people to assemble but it's not hard to do. But I have the delivery guys extra to carry it around back of my house so I didn't have to move it! 0tr4b7r3

Cheers I have this one. I needed something affordable as well. I have had it for about 4 years now and I use it 3-4 times a week. As long as you take care of it, it should last you awhile. 0tr4b7r3 and dianalynn
Guest Randy W
I bought a Reebok Treadmill from Costco.com about 5-6 years ago. It was normally about $1300, but I got it on sale for $899. It's been a GREAT investment. I use it 3-4 days a week. You can do your own thing or plug in different programs that you can purchase on SD cards with different workouts. Also had speakers to plug your phone or iPod into. 0tr4b7r3

KellyAnn
I like both. Treadmill propels you forward so i prefer an incline. Weather outside is bad, i love the indoors. 0tr4b7r3

Guest Sharon
Help, I'm using a treadmill, pace 6:5, doing 5 (km or miles)?? in 45 minutes, I'm using this app but treadmill and app contradict each other, I'm using the app twice over before finishing 5 (km of miles) on treadmill.. Am I running in miles or km? 0tr4b7r3
torus_ot
Sharon Pace is Time divided by distance. So the pace 6.5 is most likely 6.5 min per 1km. Most of the treadmills has option to switch between miles and km. and even if your treadmill cannot be switched the math is quite simple: 1 mile is about 1.6km For example speed 6 miles per hour is about 9.6km per hour. It is not clear how you use the app. What week and day are you running? 0tr4b7r3
Guest Sharon
Thanks for the reply. I'm using the app along with the treadmills reading but both don't marry up, I seem to be doing more with that app than the mill, actually using the app twice over before finishing 5? on mill... If I'm doing km I must be very slow but it really doesn't feel slow.. ... I'm in training for next years marathon but want to do some training on the mill so as not to injury my knees.. I'm training 3 times a week and gradually building up my miles/km... I cant change the settings on my treadmill 0tr4b7r3
torus_ot
Are we talking about the same app? I used only C25K and have no idea how the marathon app is working. The treadmill should be more precise then the app. Is the time reading the same on the app and treadmill? 0tr4b7r3
Guest Guest
Yes using the C25K app, no marathon app... Treadmill and app don't marry up at all though, no where near, doing the app twice over before finishing 5k on treadmill.. Thanks for replying. 0tr4b7r3
torus_ot
The app cannot track your distance on the treadmill. It gives you only time. I do not understand what does not match? In any case treadmill reading is more precise. The pace 6.5 is should be minutes per km. It is too small for the time per mile. If the 6.5 is a speed (not a pace) than it is miles per hour and you are running pretty fast. Or it is km per hour and you can walk with this speed, but it will be very fast walking. What week and day on the app you are doing? 0tr4b7r3
