Linita&i
You seem a very strong person, that obstacle would be enough to have an excuse for not exercising... Or so I think! So you don't feel pain during your runs only after? The picture you posted shows your 5,1 km in 31,2 minutes, that means your going almost 10km/h, that is a very quick pace to run for 5 km, I guess its inevitable that one tries to improve and not slow down... I do hope your pain ceases, try and take it easy and your doctor advised and just as you advise others, this sport sadly makes you your only opponent and the hardest to beat. Take care xx Anne Lang

Take care xx Thanks but I'm far from fast. My best race time is 26:08. I really need to get it down to closer to 24 minutes before I can start placing in top 3 in my age group at some races. The pace you saw in that pic is actually a bit low for me. I usually run a 10 minute mile on my long runs. That's my comfortable pace. it used to be a lot slower but over time (and with some speed work) it has naturally improved. My first race was over 34 minutes. During runs there is no pain at all. It's an aching with occasional sharp quick stinging pain when I turn or move my knee in just that magic position. It's a rather minor injury. Just been with me too long. NEVER give up the fight!! I still ride an indoor bike, strength train (right now upper body only) and maintain my diet (Even tighter when i can't run).

Azatol
Surprising results at the physical therapist. Everything looks fantastic. My dorsiflexion is 20 which is huge. Hips and calves and everything are loose with great range of motion. It's just a simple bruise that's healing. Additionally he told me it's fine to run. He said that it's actually good stress he wants on the knee but I need to avoid bad stress. Bad stress is running hard, running hills, lunges(aside from warmup and cooldown), squats, step ups, stair climbing(up and down) and running multiple days in a row. I need to avoid all those things for a couple more weeks but keep running so I'm going to a Mon, Thu, Sat routine for a couple of weeks. Ran an easy 3 tonight and it felt great. Linita&i
Hello everybody! I thought I posted something on this thread yesterday, didn't i? I was praising Azatol for his determination as with such obstacle I would have probably have a good enough excuse to give it up, although.. I'm not so sure, this is very addictive, i hope your knee gives up and stops playing up Azatol, and thank you for telling everyone about it, this is definitely inspirational to all those who don't have a good enough excuse and opt for giving up. A few weeks ago I posted the question "should I run when in pain?" Well, today my left shin was pulling and burning again, I was thinking I should give up running if it became worse, but as you once told me "it goes away when you keep running" so I'm glad I didn't give up, it was my second 4k or 2,5 mile run and it felt very good, a lot easier than the last one, but I have to admit, I was well prepared, I even brought the big fan to blow on my face, it feels awful when the sweat drops go down your face.. Azatol
8 miles this morning with no discomfort(other than numb fingers in 28 degrees). I think we are getting there. I'll be ready for spring training in a month. Ruthie

Azatol
thats a nice run and good news on no discomfort where were your gloves . Not sure how cold ill let it get before i say no way so far my coldest run was 30 I was wearing Saucony Ulti Mitts but my hands are very cold sensitive and all running gloves are rather thin. They warm up after a few miles but it's lame until then. I've run down to 18 but this year I intend to run in any temp. I'm doing the Lousivlle Distance Project Marathon/Half Marathon training program in a month. We run (3 days a week with class and once on our own)unless there's lightning or ice. I ordered some Merino Wool glove liners to wear inside my Ulti Mitts. Hoping that does it
