Qceus
So I am new to this. I am 45, about 30-35 lbs overweight and not very fit at all. I did my first day Monday and really struggled with my breathing, etc., but afterward I felt great. I had a huge amount of energy all day. I couldn't wait for today's run. Well, today my breathing was better - still not quite right but I didn't feel nearly as winded and was beginning to get a rhythm. Ever since my run though - about 4.5 hours ago, I have been exhausted. I have been battling all day to stay awake. What's up??? Is this normal? Ruthie
I think it's normal for it to be difficult and the for it to get easier every time you run. I don't think the difficulty in staying awake after a run is normal, though. Have you eaten? Did you drink enough water? If food and water don't solve it and there is no reason for you to feel sleepy - then just to be safe, call/see your doctor.

Qceus
Feeling better today... not sure what it was. I didn't eat before I ran, but I was starving afterward and ate 2 eggs scrambled with cheese and added some almonds. I drank water during the walking portions, but didn't drink a lot. Maybe that is the problem. How much water do you drink during?
Ruthie
Glad 2 hear u are feeling better. Sounds like you were hungry. I eat oat meal after runs (since i run in the morning before breakfast) and i dont drink during...
KellyAnn
Hi There Qceus and Welcome here. I have to eat before a run, but that is me.. Not too filling of course. I eat a Banana and Peanut butter, or, toast and peanut butter. Afterwards I like eggs.... or a protein shake... I have to take water with me when I run, so little sips to wet my whistle and not in gulps, I get ill if I do .. Good luck to you and everyone here is so helpful! Happy Running!! Qceus
Ok so I woke up on Saturday with a sore throat and sneezing which turned into a raging head cold and no voice last night. I don't feel completely awful this morning but am afraid i am approaching the hibernating under the covers stage and am trying to decide whether to run. My husband thinks if I do I will get sicker. We are in Georgia for the week and it is 39 and that is pretty cold for this Florida girl. I am afraid if I don't, I will use this as an excuse and be "back on the couch". What would you do? Ruthie
Can you breath? If you can, go for a walk at least and see if you can run. If you can run comfortably, do. If you can't don't. Settle for a brisk walk for however long you can manage. That way you won't loose your groove.
