KellyAnn
So, what do you follow, if at all in the way of eating? I hate the word DIET, who likes to diet? Noone. NADA, not me, lol. I LOVE PALEO, I have a website called www.cavegirlcancook.com I put up recipes the Paleo way. Paleo is Meat, Fruit, Veggies, I do add potatoes and rice sometimes too, I am human and I get bored.. I will not give up my cheese, ever, period. SO what do you eat??? Atkins? Nutrisystem, Medifast? I have friends who have lost a lot on Medifast, but I am rebel ad cannot stand for someone to tell me what to eat. But that is just me... We cheat every Saturday and that does help to burn more weight off. My husband Keith likes The 4 Hour Body diet, i am ot a big bean lover due to the.......... factor, you get that. lol BUt he loves it.. KellyAnn
Hey there, I do not know how to announce you ALSFroggie, We have a lot of friends who did the 4Hour Body Diet. They have a book out on it. It is basically Meat, Veggies, Beans, no fruit, and one major cheat day once a week. I have done this and it is a good one. I do like my fruit so I LOVE the Paleo Diet for me. I am not a DR., but you can choose what you want to do. Seek help from a DR., if you can first. I will not recommend any diet for anyone, only give you a little guidance. Ask me any question you want to! Thanks
Guest Elayne
What do you eat for breakfast on Paleo diet? Have you lost much weight?
KellyAnn
My breakfast is usually 2 eggs and 2 pieces of bacon. Fruit to follow. String cheese for a snack, lunch I usually eat meat and a salad. A protein bar mid afternoon or celery and peanut butter. Dinner is meat, veggies , I'd do add rice and potatoes once I awhile. I am human and we all get bored. One day a week we cheat. Cheating really helps too. Sunday through Friday we are reallly good. I have lost 10lbs. I do believe in eating clean for the most part. You won't want junk food very much as it makes you feel I'll after you've been eating clean. We love our cocktails on the weekends but now feel, like we keep losing and gaining it back every week. So now the hubby and I are back on no cocktails at all. That I miss the most, lol. But I am soooo committed to losing more weight. ASAP. No more sabotage. It's no fun anymore anyways drinking. Ugghhh. I am determined to lose this weight for good. I have some Paleo recipes on my site at Cavegirlcancook.com. Also there are great books out there to on Paleo. I love Paleo as I'm not a big sugar eater. Never have been. You have to do what is right for you. I am not a Dr., so check with your Dr first. I just try it all so I know. That's me. I rotate my breakfast, eggs one day, a shake another day, juice one day, etc... Depends in my mood.

A New Start
Hi Kelly, I'll definitely be checking your website! I'm a Type II diabetic with other long-term issues (I'm a metabolic mess), and am restricted to only 90 carbs a day. Needless to say C25K and MFP are my friends. I'm having a very difficult time getting enough lean protein, and to be honest, I'm tired of cooking for my picky family simply because I'm the only one who has had to completely change eating patterns. Could you help me think outside the box a bit? Thanks!Michele
KellyAnn
Hey Sure Michele, My Cavegirlcancook.com has some recipes on it. I am lucky now that it is just my hubby and i have to cook for and he will eat anything. But I totally understand you when it ocmes to cooking for your family. Picky eaters I never had to deal with, noone cooking, i so have had to deal with that, lol. Especially when you have to work, then come home and cook, grrrrrr.. lol. I am hypoglycemic, so I have to eat or I will get really ill. I am not a sugar fan at all, also makes me ill. I am a protein girl all the way, so the Paleo is a breeze for me. Why I can tolerate alcohol is beyond me. WHICH, btw, is a no no now as I am on a huge exercise kick. SOOOO, ( I am not a DR.), but do you take insulin or no? Is yours mostly controlled by what you eat? I do check my insulin levels myself here and there, so do you? Give me an idea so I know. Now, I love grilling some meats, throwing on veggies. Now for the family, I added rice or potatoes. I am not a fan, so that was easy for me. BBQ meats is the best or smoking. We have a Traeger smoker/ grill that I love.... Crockpots are awesome, so many recipes out there. I do a roast (i think its on my site), that is beef , soy sauce, water, beef stock that is to die for, I make tacos out of it, you name it. So you mention picky eaters???, like, you make something and they turn their noses up at it?? Uh, whatever is on the table in my house, is what they get, they don't like it, too bad. Sorry, that is how I felt. Then they cook for themselves. Of course, I always wanted to make my family happy so i cooked a lot of what they wanted, but there were times I did not like what I cooked either, like , I am not a fan of stir frys back then, now I LOVE them, but I would just separate my food and I was fine. I know, I am weird. Our favorite lunch now is I take chicken thighs, fry them up on the griddle, throw on veggies and teriyaki sauce or soy sauce and lunch, yum. Low sugar/Low sodium kind. I love meat rollups, ham, turkey, cheese, delish. String cheese, low sugar jerky, Natural Peanut butter on celery, boiled eggs, bacon, yes bacon, turkey breast I like cold rather than chicken. Does this help? throw anything my way. HUgs Kelly A New Start
A New Start
Luckily I'm controlled by diet and Metformin. (I'm what used to be considered a "borderline" diabetic, good sugars but a mildly elevated A1C.) As for picky eaters - I have a 3 year old who prefers as many carbs as possible, and a husband who feels the same way. Neither cares for veggies or fruit. Thank god my 19-month-old is a walking trash compactor and eats everything. Never seen a kid eat meatloaf as fast as my son does!I love stir-fry, crock pots, even my old George Foreman grill. Meat roll-ups, romaine leaves instead of taco shells, I've even found a super low-carb tortilla for fajitas and quesadillas. Beef, black bean soup, chili, pulled pork or chicken all make it on my favorites list. I'm rapidly approaching the "two choices" method for dinner - take it or leave it, I'm tired of making everyone a separate dinner because they don't want what I cooked. I never think of hard-cooked eggs, thanks for the reminder! I used to make chicken salad, egg salad, and tuna salad in 50-pound batches for work, that should all be OK on top of mixed greens or as vegetable dips, right? Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it Kelly! KellyAnn
Hi there, Your son sounds adorable, walking trash compactor, I love it. What a cutie he is.. My kids were never ever picky and ate veggies all the time and still do. It is because when they were babies, I never told them they were yucky, i always said, oh these are sooooooo yummy, so they wanted the veggies too. My husband is eating healthy with me and he is not a fruit eater either. If I peel or cut him fruits, apples and PB, he will eat them , so that is what I do. I pretty much eat the paleo way most days. I love love tacos and refuse to wrap them, our FAV lately has been a Tostada shell, refried beans, cheese and lettuce and salsa. Which sounds good to me today for lunch lol. I keep my calories under 1400 a day and cheat on Saturdays, I AM A SUCKER FOR FRIES, but only once a week. I have been into making Parmesan crisps, love them, that is what I use as a cracker for tuna, etc... You need a special mat to bake them on. I am trying to remember what they are called. ANwyas, they are good. THere might be a recipe on my site. And you are so welcome Michele!
A New Start
Silicone mats - the "name" brand is Silpat, but there are a few others. I have a Silpat somewhere in the toolbox I used as a culinary student. That thing saved my butt when we made grated cheese crisps and pulled sugar designs! KellyAnn
Thanks, I for the life of me could not remember what those mats we re called. lol

Guest Sandy
hey KellyAnn, I also follow the paleo plan. I find it easy and very tasty and not at all boring. I was curious as to what you are eating on the cheat days? I don't generally cheat at all, only when there's a birthday at work and I'll have a very small slice of cake and then I pay for it with a stomachache! I enjoy the occasional cheese too, definitely not daily though.
KellyAnn
Hi Sandy, I do love this lifestyle. You can check out food posts on my www.facebook.com/cavegirlcancook I post what I make, and recipes I find on the internet. Usually on friday nights we like Papa Murphys, Delite crust pizza, loaded with meats, cheese, veggies. On Saturdays, we usually go out for the day, we have a Paleo breakfast, then we eat whatever we want for a late lunch. But honestly, I rarely eat fries anymore, hurts my gut. So We keep cheating to a minimal. My favorite VERSATILE vegetable is cauliflower, gosh, there is so much you can do with it, Mashed, Rice, Scalloped, Steamed, Roasted with garlic and parmesan cheese. Oh So Good!!! I am cheeseaholic, but I limit it too!! Check out my page and tell your friends. THere is also a website called cavegirlcancook.. Let me know if you have any questions. LoneBabyWildebeest
Some of what I do sounds like Paleo, or maybe a diabetic diet. Never read up on Paleo. Maybe I'll google it today. If I can stick to it: Morning I do my C25K. Followed by a mocha I make at home (my cheat!) with one slice of lo-cal toast with a slice of cheese and one egg folded into a sandwich. That's about... 220 calories? During the day I attempt light snacking. If there's leftovers I might dip into that but my favorites are humus (as low sodium as I can find) with some raw veggies (baby carrots, celery, sugar snap peas), a can of low-sodium V8 juice, 4-5 crackers and a serving of cheese, or garbanzo beans, fresh mozzarella and diced tomatoes with some oil/vinegar. All small portions - I'll snack on something like that a couple times before dinner maybe around 11am and 2pm. I try and keep things going so my sugar levels don't freak out. Dinner is usually grilled meat of some sort with some plain rice and stir-fried veggies or salad (and rolls for the kids, but let's face it, I have one of those, too). Once a week it's pasta and meatballs. Once a week it's pizza with the kids. If we and have any chance of staying up after the kids go to bed for some actual, uninterrupted conversation we have an evening coffee, too. Most of the food I make at home "from scratch" so it's healthier and less preservatives - meatballs, marinades, etc. Honey is a sugar substitute for many things I bake. KellyAnn
Hi LBW, So , do you eat protein, like fish, chicken, turkey, etc..??? I am such a protein girl, but that is just me. I didn't go looking for Paleo or Atkins, etc./. it found me. Even as a kid, going to Birthday parties, I never ate cake or ice ceam, I wanted no sugar, I wanted salty foods. I love jerky, yumm.. Now I do go crazy for candy corn and caramel apple suckers, lol, but in low dosage. My hubby loves the 4 Hour Body Diet, we are sticking to that for awhile, it works. Meat, Veggies, Legumes and one huge cheat day a week. Love it. Oh Yeah Fatty Pants. I forgot I have one of those spiral slicers , I think I will use that at lunch with a zucchini.. Yummy... Thanks
