C25K Journey

Finally, I started it. The weather was fine this afternoon so I decided to run my W1D1. I have tried RunKeeper 5K Plan before and this interval plan is similar with one of the plan in RunKeeper. But I have to admit that I failed that plan. So I restart my plan with this. I would like to ask about running pace. I consider myself as a slow runner, so is my pace going to be increase through week by week of this plan. Hopefully. I am 34 years old, 75kg or around 163lbs. I plan to have my second child this year and need to lost 15 kg to reach my ideal weight before pregnancy coming. So here I am, craving for support and buddies and totally sure that everybody in here will sincerely fulfill them. Greeting from Indonesia.

SUCCESS!! Congrats on your first day IndriSis!   The below anonymous commenter shared her/his thoughts well, I thought,  in regards to pace or speed. I loved, overtime, how she continued to improve her pace! I hope this helps answer your question. I too, am still learning. <3

"c25k is meant to build endurance up to the point where you can run a 5K without pause. There is zero focus on speed in that program, and that is entirely deliberate, and the usual advice is to ignore speed ENTIRELY while on this program, because that's not what it's for. If you like, it's pretty easy to improve your speed after you can do a 5K though, quite simply by incorporating some runs suited to improving speed. I completed my first 5K in almost 40 minutes about 18 months ago, but in the next 2 months I brought it down to under 30 minutes and by now my PR is 26:51 which I'm happy about."

Thank you for the insight about running pace. Sometimes I feel intimated by other personal best while my pace is quite the same as my walking. Tomorrow will be my W1D2. Need to wake up earlier before work as most afternoon is always raining here. Have to take care of my shoes, haha. Btw, I dont recall that this app record our distance. How do we know that we have reached desireable 5K distance or maybe it is hidden somewhere.

As far I know the app doesnt track distance because its all about time at this point and building pace and distance later. I used a separate app for track my distance once I finished the program so I knew how much farther I had to go to reach an actual 5k. It actually helped not knowing how far so I wouldnt get discouraged while I was running haha

Good luck!

I smiled reading the above ...   it was beautiful to read!  As corny as this next thought sounds ...

I betcha, had I been next to you, I would have seen beauty in your breathing in spite of your wide open mouth and gasping breaths. I'd say, "You're doing it!  You did it! I am so glad I was here to see you press on! So proud of you!"   I betcha, you would have said something similar to me after seeing me huff and puff and sweat all over as well!  LOL  ;)

High Five!!   :P  :D

Yes! The red and sweaty face. My daughter said that I looked like someone that had been burned under the sun, though the sun was very nice at that time. And you know my Asian skin, it is very long to make it fairer but it gets darker very fast after swimming, running or any outdoor activities. No pain no gain, isnt it.
