AWhite_in_ATX
I've been wanting to do the Diva Dash for the last several years but never actually "prepared" myself, and wasn't sure how to. This year I decided I'm going to do this, no more excuses. I am so grateful to have found this app to help me train for my very first 5K. I actually just completed my first workout today! Whoa! Easier than I thought it would be. Hope I'll still be saying that in week 4, haha! At 52, I'm on my way to a better, fitter and healthier me. It's nice to be part of an online community with people who are all making the same journey. I'm sure there will be plenty of motivation and encouragement along the way. Good luck to everyone here! AWhite_in_ATX
Hi TrishE, the Diva Dash is actually an obstacle adventure run, and not the muddy, barbed wire kind either. Some of the runners costume up in tutus and sparkles. It's in select cities; here's the link: http://divadash.com/. It just looks like so much fun, so I wanted to start with it. AWhite_in_ATX
Hi Azatol, thanks for the advise. I did follow the app's prompts, and had a nice stretching session afterwards. I was surprised at how quickly the time flew by, but overall it was enjoyable, especially with the sun shining down on me at 72 degrees. Guest TrishE
As soon as I finished on the forums I googled the diva dash and it does look amazing. that is a great goal to set for yourself, a fun 5k is a great place to start. My first 5k was a color run when I finished the c25k program. Its so much fun and that non competitive atmosphere is the best.
AWhite_in_ATX
Hi Shannon! Glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks life starts after 50, lol! Best of luck on your journey to running again. You've been there before, know what it's like and it sounds like you are in a really good place to start again! AWhite_in_ATX
TrishE - I've heard of the ColorRun! They had one last year here in Austin, sometime during the summer I believe. It seems there are more "fun" runs than ever before, so I will have some choices to make after the Diva Dash. Maybe the Wicked WIne Run on May 30th where the run takes place at the vineyards and trails of Spicwood Vineyards, and there's wine waiting at the finish line. Yup, keeping Austin weird. TheRoseWithin~Shannon
What is Diva Dash? <--link This sounds fun!! LOL Their home page motivates me to focus on more core strengthening exercises. So far, I can't step over a chain easily, (chain blocks entrance near apartments) - I can at the beginning of a workout, yet not after. I WILL THOUGH, especially as I stay with this. I'll be 52 in September ... bet I'll be doing a gig over the wire by then.
KellyAnn
Welcome here and man , that DIVA DASH sounds like fun, I would love to do that! I have heard of the Tough Mudder and Color me Run in Reno, that is it. Great Job!
