Looking for tough love...

Recommended Posts

Hey there!!

I totally dig all of the awesome support I see you all giving each other on these forums but I'm looking for a "tough love" accountability buddy!! I'm a mom of a 3 year old, have a very demanding career, and a medical condition so I am abundant with excuses and reasons to skip a workout or ten...

Hey there RedMustRun,

Well, we dig Ya too. You sound Super busy. Whew. You tell me what you want as tough buddy and I can help you get there. There are so many people here that will help. Me too me too. I need it myself.

We have an Accountability 2015 Board that you can post a journal too. Anything you need help with just ask. So here for you. All of us are.

You can do it!!

KellyAnn,

I'd like to zero in on a single person that I can keep regular contact (no offense to anyone, I just don't want to commit to several people and fail to come through in reciprocating encouragement and accountability to them) with that is encouraging and is there for a high five on good days, but won't pet me or validate my rationalizations when I make excuses. Ideally, it would be someone with similar goals and interests.

My suggestion, RedMustRun, as time allows....join in on the fun here-simply trust your gut and respond only as your heart leads. There is no requirement to respond or even post, so I would encourage you NOT to worry about failing others here, AND as you have already noticed, if all you ever did was read, there is phenomenal; sincere support present daily, indeed reading gets me going and on the right track when I am having an off day, (it supports personal accountability).  Again, as you have the time, (we are all busy in different ways) share your progress and read other's; encourage and be encouraged and sooner or later you will resonate/connect with another participant who has very similar goals and intentions - then message away!

Lastly, tough love.  At the end of the day the only person who will see if you have followed through is you. Tough love starts first with you, which means you compassionately and firmly remind yourself that your past abundant excuses and reasons not to run are yesterday's news. Today, you have an opportunity and choice to kick your own hiney into gear, and you'll reap the benefits of that choice and celebrate your success at the end of day! You will be and are your biggest cheerleader!  I for one, would love to hear how you continue to encourage and motivate yourself on in spite of and because of the off days, and most certainly I am eager to dish out loads of HIGH FIVES!  CHEERS! Looking forward to hearing about your progress - your on days and off days!!

Red, I'm a mom to a 6yo and a 3yo. My sis in law and I are "tough buddies" to each other...sending a text to the other when we would rather lie on the couch at night than get in a workout, knowing the other will reply to get up right now and get on the treadmill, just do 5 min, you will feel better...usually ends up with then doing a full workout once we get going. I totally understand what you are looking for, and would be happy to be accountability buddies with you too.
