I've set a goal to walk/jog 10 miles per week for the last 4 weeks, joined a softball team and upped my goal to 12 miles this week. I'm looking for women like me to work with me to get/stay motivated... never done this posing thing before either... So, sorry if this is weird... I am a little older then you, I am 57 and just recently decided to get on this healthy ride! I quit smoking almost 2 years ago, and joined Weight Watchers this past October. My husband and I both started hiking and love it! While on a hike someone told me about the C25K application, I was never a runner, jogger, never liked it, I am only on week 3, just finished day 2 on it. I am 44, quit smoking in December, and am tired of sitting on the couch not doing anything. I joined a gym, hired a personal trainer and started walking. I have not started the C10K app yet as I just found it and was out of town, vacation. And I have to leave again. I will MOST DEFINITELY start it on Sunday the 20th. Determined to lose weight, be in better health, and running 5k by my birthday end of November. We got this ladies, 40 is the new 30! Physically, my endurance and breathing needed improvement; mentally, I needed to push myself. So I am in week two (after two weeks on week one) and I am not sucking wind as badly as when I started. Guest RJMier Posted August 5, 2014 Report Share Posted August 5, 2014 Hi I'm 47, just tried training through another program and got injured, so I'm resting up to heal, then I'll start the C25K, hoping for better results. I really enjoyed the running, not so much the injury. I plan to start again, with just plain walking in Mid-August then if all goes well begin the C25K by September. I Have two boys I'm very proud of and I've been separated for over 7 yrs now. I work full time, one soon is in college and the other in high school. So here's my thing, I have low self esteem and I want to feel better about myself, I keep trying to start then I slack off for whatever reason, mainly because I'm lazy maybe I dunno, maybe because I don't have anyone to motivate me or maybe because I just keep making up excuses, I'm so tired of all that. I seriously want to workout, run, lose weight and I want to do it all for ME! My question is, how do I stay motivated, how do you stay motivated? Boyd1993 Posted August 6, 2014 Report Share Posted August 6, 2014 I honestly know what it like to tart and stop, many gym memberships wasted, unused weight watcher products and unused exercise DVDs. About two month ago I saw an ld pic of me and was like I have to do something. I stop in at my local running store and the manager gave me the c25k program. I went to a dollar store got me a arm band to hold my iPod and shoe store for a cheap pair of running shoes. I started the first week and was hooked. I think because it's three days a week made it easier. I have to say you but the nail on the hea when you said you want to do it or me, that's so true in so many ways. I'm doing this for me, I run at my local track put my headphones in and go I don't let others intimidate me I just tun everything else out. MakeEveryBreathCount Posted August 8, 2014 Report Share Posted August 8, 2014 I'm 48 and decided to give C2K5 a try. I don't want to lose weight but would like to tone. I'm on Week 7 Day 2. I am running on a treadmill due to the heat and running alone. I am not having trouble with the running but the breathing is a problem. I can't seem to relax my shoulders and by the end of my run my neck hurts and I'm gasping for air. I run at 4 or 4.5 mph most days. At this point I am not worried about speed but want to increase my distance. Any suggestions on breathing techniques and how to relax? Confident and determined. Will be slowing the training down a wee bit. Running has helped me to destress and deal with a bereavement. Not really sure how this works but I am hoping hoping to link up with others like myself who are getting back Into exercise after many years off. I am 47 and started to do Crossfit at the beginning of the summer (I live in america) I have also been doing a little bit of running and would like to eventually build up to a 5k (not going very well so far. Have people had good luck with the c25k program?
