Guest Nola6
I just completed day 1 of week 5 and although I feel better while running (at least at the beginning) but have not changed in size or appearance. I am at least 80# overweight and had really hoped I'd "see" a difference by now...
Guest Shelley
Keep at it, you will see a difference. Also make sure you are eating the right things too. A good diet always complements exercise.
KellyAnn
Hi Nola, You are probably losing inches. I was really discouraged the other day until I put my waist pack on for running and it was too loose. My pants and shirts are looser now too. I rarely weigh myself as I why do I want to be depressed? It wilmake me cry - MEAN SCALE, so i only weigh when I am feeling great. It will happen. Like Shelley said, change your diet too. That will help. Good Luck and keep us posted. Guest Chris
I haven't been at it as long as you have yet, but I'm feeling the same way. For as much exertion as running takes you would think we would thin out faster.... I did find that while the scale isn't budging much that I did lose a bit as far as inches though. I'm also assuming that were building some muscle (which weighs more than fat) so that's factoring into weight as well.
Guest Taylor
I share your frustration. I'm just a kith to start week6 (I skipped for one week) and I'm very proud of the fact that I can know run 3 miles in 30 minutes. I've never been able to do this before even when I was a varsity athlete in high school. It's still frustrating that I haven't seen any weight loss. I am significantly overweight (100#) but when I'm completely honest with myself I know I'm not eat right and I've stopped encorporating strength training into my work outs. I know that strength with cardio and eating right will help me be successful. I'm still struggling but having a good support system and clear written out goals is helpful. Also elimate that negative talk to yourself. If you're like me it will feel great when you stop putting yourself down. You're doing a great thing here. Believe in yourself! KellyAnn
Hi There I think we all feel the frustration when we think we are working our butts off and the frazzle mazzle weight does not fall off like it should or how it did when we were younger. My clothes are way looser and I REFUSE to weigh myself. One thing you have to think about is what you eat. If you are doing all the right things, then you should lose weight. I have to change things up for myself as i get mad at myself. Time to change it up get serious. Do not be hard on yourself. You can do it. Download MyFitnessPal so you can keep track of all that you eat. Sometimes when I add up my calories for the day, I forget the creamer in my coffee, that tbsp of butter I sauteed with, etc.... So think of that too. BUT you have to enjoy life and not let it get you down. You are lapping all the couch potatoes, so you are AWESOME! Happy Running! Guest Jo Ann
i so love the responses here! Nola - it truly takes time. i'll bet just about anything that your clothes feel better, it's easier to run up/down stairs or just move around. have you thought of adding weight training to your routine? Guest Kate
I JUST started. First day. I'm not doing it for weight loss so much as energy, feeling better and stronger, and ALSO exercising my dog!! But I have to say, it was so hard and u was huffing and puffing so much it made me feel so bad about myself! . I know it's not dangerous hurt, but I was just sad at how out if shape I am. Confession: I couldn't even keep walking through then last five minutes of cool down. Is there anyone who can tell me that I can really do this? That I could actually become one of "those people" who I see running by? What do you all think? Thanks for listening --- Kate e.
Guest Domino
Kate if it is too hard then go slower. It is better to build the length of time you can run first and then the speed later. Seriously, I know someone who walked the running parts and rested for the walking parts. When I started I did it first on the eliptical, now I am running/jogging properly and made it to week 6. You can do just make sure you take care not to hurt yourself by pushing too hard!

Guest Dave
Iam doing this for overall health and hopefully weigh loss. I'm only 19. I'm 6'3 and haven't weighed myself in a long amount of time. I for sick my senior tear of highschool and send from 300# to my lowest being 237. I looked great and felt great about myself. Then my father passed and gained about 20 pounds back. AMD haven't been able to get it off and keep it off.
KellyAnn
Hi Dave, You are young and you can get the weight off you pretty fast. I am so sorry about you Dad, that is a tough thing for you to go through at your age. So, did you download the C25k? Which one? Good luck to you Dave and you can do it. Your age is a huge factor, you will burn it off quickly... Happy Running and keep us posted on here!

Guest Tiffany
Think I'm going to be another person who has to start off walking the jogging parts and resting the walking parts for the first week and likely have to repeat the first week until I build up strength. I read in a previous post someone else started like this? Did they ever manage to reach running? I'm very very out of shape and even get winded when walking, just hit remission from leukemia I've been fighting and on the couch the past 5 yrs. I have gained so much weight and lost so much muscle but I want to be able to run a 5k and tell cancer it can't keep me down. Just wondered if its possible when I've been down so long
LoneBabyWildebeest
Hi Tiffany! I am so happy for your remission! Your attitude is amazing, and wanting to command your body to fall in line with your mental outlook is great! So long as your doc thinks it's a good move to start some sort of exercise routine, then heck yes, I would just start just walking. Maybe you could do your warm up as stretching, then walk/rest as you mentioned. You could work your way up to a slow/fast walk and on from there. I think it's KellyAnn who writes something like it's just one foot in front of the other? That's what counts. You'll get there! -LBW
KellyAnn
Awe, Hi First, BIG OLE HUG from me. Congratulations on you remission. And yes LBW, I did say that, thanks so much, love your encouraging words. I also love the one that says, "If you are Moving, then you are Lapping anyone sitting on the Couch"! That is my favorite.. Tiffany, small steps, you can do it, little bit at a time. You are You and if you walk, so walk, I am SOOOOO Proud of you, You got this girl. YOU BEAT Leaukemia, you can do anything... Keep us posted, we are here to help you!! Good Luck!
Guest Domino
@Tiffany, It was the friend of mine that introduced me to c25k who started with a walking/rest round, they are now starting a jogging/running round, week 3 I think. Congrats on being in remission! @kelly thanks for the encouragement. I have to admit I took a more than a couple of weeks off, then tried again and just flew through it. Now I have just finished w7d2, just 3 more runs then the 5k run! So excited, I should be able to manage it for Christmas! Next challenge is to manage it running in the real world. So far I have kept to the treadmill.

Guest domino
Whoohoo! Literally just finished my graduation run today! A little later then to be able to say that I completed my last years resolution, because I had an knee injury in feb and a loss in the family. So I started and stopped a lot, had to begin on the elliptical and then repeated it on a treadmill. This years resolution is to complete the inca trail trek, so I am starting the training program for that next. Thank you for all your posts which have motivated me to keep going.
