Guest Barb
I am starting my 8th week of the C25K program and I know that I won't be up to 5K despite running for 30 minutes straight. Should I focus on running the full 5K BEFORE starting the 10K trainer? Or should I just continue directly to week 9 of the 10K trainer? KellyAnn
hmmmm, good question. I am not in an area where I can go do a 5k. So I do that by myself. If you are feeling awesome, surely skip ahead on the 10k app, but if you cant do that then just backup a few weeks and see how you do. You know your body and what you are capable of. I love these apps for keeping me motivated. Keep us posted as to what you do! Natasha
Stef.
I have jumped directly from C25K to week 9 of the C210K trainer and I am now running regularly 10+ kilometer without a stop. Now I am training for a half marathon, so it does work. You can always either step back a week or repeat a day if it is too much. Do your rest days though! Stef. Guest Barb
Ok, so I will be completing the program in that I will be able to run for 30 minutes straight BUT I won't be running 3 10 minute miles therefore I won't be running the distance of 5K in 30 minutes yet. I get the feeling that a lot of newbies have this issue. They've technically finished the program because they are running for 30 minutes nonstop but aren't running the entire distance yet. So, my question has to do with whether I should make sure that I can run 5K in 30 minutes time before I continue on to the 10K Trainer? Or should I just continue on to week 9 not having run 5 kilometers in 30 minutes time yet? I hope this is more clear. Thanks for any and all input! Fatruns
I think you should continue regardless. I'm super slow and my best time to run 5ks is just over 40mins. But I've gone ahead with the 10k program anyway (week 12 this week!). And I discovered I can run 10+Kms when I gave myself enough time! Once a week I go away from the program and do a "Fartlek" run. Apparently it's sweedish for speed play? Basically It's interval training (slow jog vs fast run) to get you running at a faster pace overall. To do this I go right back to week 1 day 1. When the voice over says to run then I'll sprint and when it says to walk, then I'll go to a super slow jog. It kills and I want to give up and I feel sore the next day but I think it's been helping me run 5kms faster. KellyAnn and Andy.安迪
Guest Jaime
I had the same question. I'm on week 7 and I am doing the full time but I'm not making the distance in the given time frames. I like the Fartlek idea. I think I'll complete the 8 weeks then go back to week 1 and try the approach for speed increase.
Guest Sandy
Fatruns, great idea to use the week 1, day 1 for speed work! Now why didn't I think of that?!
