Newbie from US. I'll be 48 in January, mom and grandmother. Need to drop 20 lbs. and firm up abdominal area. I spent 8 1/2 months last year between abdominal surgeries and recovery. Had a bowel resection, gallbladder removed, and uterus.... whew! So I'm not a couch potato but could use to more allot more. Have a Fitbit to try and keep me on track, come close or hit 10k on most days.

Found this app and hope to start tomorrow!

Hi I'm also new to this app. I'm 54 , overweight, suffer from thyroid problems. I like a couch potato sitting on the sofa watching tv. I know I need to change those habits but the idea really scares me, I'm not really fit for exercise, I go to Zumba class just once a week and the rest of the week take several walks with the dog. I know that I should stick to the program. Hope to start tomorrow.

Hi Linda,

I am 54, new to running, and with flat feet as well. I'm so excited to finally have the ability to fulfill my lifelong dream of running further than across the street without causing severe pain in my feet and ankles, likening it to mini-sprains. This pain used to cause me to nearly fall every time I attempted to take off on a run, and I would limp away till the pain subsided. Walking was also very painful for me, even after trying every type of over-the-counter insert, and many different shoe types.

I feel I am able to run only after getting custom made orthotics from my podiatrist. I told him about all of my lower extremity problems since childhood, and of my dream to be a runner. It took about 4-5 months of getting my feet, ankles, legs and knees used to my new orthotics, but everything is finally in the correct alignment. I am only starting week 2, but I am ecstatic that I am actually running, with zero foot or ankle pain!

I am feeling good and confident that I will succeed because - I CAN run!! Check with a reputable podiatrist, and invest in some custom orthotics, they just might work for you like they have for me. Good luck to you in reaching your goal.

Hi I am Lynette 50yrs old! Just attempted wk1 day 1 and only got halfway sadly. Sooo unfit. Will repeat it till I get it!

You can do it.   Today was my first day also.   I did the whole thing but only ran 30 sec's each time instead of 10 min. I believe that is the same as only halfway.  We can do this,  I am going to repeat also until I can get it done.
