Guest Andi
I was recently diagnosed with this condition in my right knee. Has anyone had this and have been able to start back running. I'm a little bumped out, because I just started a running program, now I'm sidelined. KellyAnn
Here is a link for those that are curious. That does sound painful Andi and again, I am sorry. what do the Dr's say your outcome will be? I have had the Miniscus shaved on both knees and do very well now. keep me posted http://www.healthline.com/health/chondromalacia-patella#Overview1
Guest Rachel
I was diagnosed a couple of months ago and have only ran once since. There are bands that sit right under your knee cap, that when worn relieve some of the pressure that is placed on the knee. I have one by IT, Mueller also makes them. I very much like it. And it even says on the back of the package that it helps this condition. Another way to make it feel better is if you rub icy-hot on it at night and wrap it with an Ace bandage. I'm planning on slowly working my way up to running a full 5k again. I hope this helps you, and I hope yours doesn't hurt as bad as mine does. :-)
Guest marie
I was diagnosed years ago with it, I did therpay and was good for many years. I got slack with work outs and now suffer with it once again. I am starting to do this program on the bike (part of the therpy) in stead of running. I will make it back to sign up for my first 5k. biggest thing get your knee heathy before you run or you will just make it worse. Do your therpy ice and yes you should be able to run again. NickiT
So you should use ice for this sort of thing? I haven't been diagnosed with this, but my pain is exactly how it's described. I've tried Epsom salt and heat. I feel like it's getting worse, and I haven't tried to run since it started
pixie_19
I was diagnosed with chondromalacia in 2006. I am a dancer and I was a breaststroker. Both very bad for knees. I was given the option of surgery or physical therapy. I opted for therapy which consisted of Pilates. It worked wonders. When I started running, I added yoga, ballet, and strength training (sumo squats instead of regular) and my knees have not hurt at all! Hope this helps Lydia
