Delicatxan
Any fellow low carbers out there? I'm doing Atkins (extended induction as I have a lot to lose). Any recommendations to help fuel the body for running? Not new to low carb (lost almost 70lbs this past year). But my weight loss has stalled so I'm ramping up my exercise & giving c2k a try. Would appreciate any advice! catlynk
KellyAnn
Hi there. Ive been a low carber for years. Besides the initial feeling tired, i find my energy is better not eating sooo many carbs. I was always surprised at races that the night before they serve spaghetti and bread. That makes me tired. My body craves protein. Ive even gone zero carbs, but that bored me lol. Welcome here got this !! Keep me posted.
StrawberryCupcakess
I'm eating about 20g carbs a day. I generally run a few hours after lunch and have a glass of water before I go and when I get back, as well as staying hydrated throughout the day. Some people like exercising while fasted but I don't feel well when I do that. If I felt the need for fuel before starting I'd probably do a shot of heavy cream or half a protein shake. My energy seems to be increasing the more I run!! Crabapple
catlynk
I'm in my fourth week of C25K, when I started I eliminated carbohydrates in the form of "white" foods (flour, rice brown and white, sugar...). And to help speed up my weight loss I decided 3 weeks ago I would give up meat for a while and only eat fish for my major source of protein. With low carb diets, I have tons of energy where before I was in bed asleep by 9. Last Friday a friend came to hang out and we ordered pizza, we ate at 6 and by 7:30 when she left I couldn't keep my eyes open, And had to go lay down. I was asleep within minutes. Pizza is my all time favorite food, but the realization about what it did to my body makes me not want to eat it anymore! Especially with all the hard work and effort I'm putting into this training. Good luck to you!
Ketorunner
I'm currently on a keto diet, low carb high fat. After a while of doing this you go into a state of ketosis. The body begins to burn fat as it's main fuel source. Because fat is the most efficient fuel, I always have energy and don't need to carb load. When I have my re-feed days (cheat day) I can tell a big difference if I eat something with sugar or carbs. Almost feel sick.

Delicatxan
I also am a lchf 'er. I just started c2k5 a week ago, (an on w2 d2 Monday. ) I just have coffee with heavy cream and coconut oil before. Are you feeling like your not getting enough energy before you run? I seem to have enough energy to run but notice when I work out (c25k being the cardio portion of my workout), that I am really hungry afterwards for a while. I didn't know if other low carbers had experienced this. I'm not used to being hungry on Atkins. I lost a lot of weight over the past year by diet alone without working out. My weight loss stalled so I joined a gym. Ramping up my fitness to try to get off this plateau but just finding myself eating more because I'm so hungry after working out, even though I eat my regular meals before I go to the gym. MyFlyBoys
I've just started eating 1/4 a cup of sunflower seeds and drinking a lot of water after, a man may need more, but I am finding that to be helpful. That has 17 g of fat and only 4 net carbs.
Swathi
the advantage of low carb diet is that one avoids processed food and white flour, keep it up..
