C25K twice a day

I've started the regular way several times over the last few years and always had knee trouble by the end of week 2 which forced me to drop it for weeks.  This time I started SLOWER, repeated week 1 three times, then week 2 three times, etc.  I've just started week 5 and it's going well, I'm delighted.  If anything, the progression to longer runs jumps up too dramatically in the later weeks and I'd really recommend repeating those weeks at least twice, build up stamina really steadily and do it without injury!

It's a horrible idea! There is plenty of other things you can do in the spare time, such as weight training, biking, swimming, or just plain walking. Do not go too strong or you WILL get damaged. I had to do week 2 twice because I messed up the excercise days and thought of "making up" for lost time on the next week. I did fine on week 3 day 1 so the following day I thoughtt of doing day 2. It was horrible. I felt miserble, wantied to quit, and every step that the previous day had been so light and graceful felt forced and heavy. So I said to myself: never again! Two months fly by, honsetly. I just finished the dreaded week 5 day 3 today (on my first attempt!) and I feel like a million bucks. Had I been injured I would have quit since that second week and never get back to the program again.

 

Just go slowly!

My trainers in the past have told me to limit my workouts to one a day with at least 1 rest day a week. Your muscles need 24 hours to recover. If you doukble your workout, it will actually take you longer to reach your goals!

Great advice from everyone. There are days when I feel like continuing on and I do 2 days back to back, but the next day I do that day over again. I try not to, if I am feeling crazy, then I ride my bike, weights, etc. Your body needs to rest and repair. I like what Juna and Shawna have said, You do not want to injure yourself. Years ago I was a maniac, but you now what?, the weight will fall off faster not being crazy. I have learned that less is more.

 

I watched Biggest Loser last night and some of them were over 350lbs., While I love their end results, as a Personal Trainer myself, they had about 4 people seriously injured in the first show. I want to scream at the TV and tell them to slow down. One guy tore his Miniscus, One popped a muscle, well, if they wouldn't be training them so hard they would not become injured. Slow down, they will fall off just as fast. When someone loses 8lbs, they all cry and feel bad, SERIOUSLY??, 8 lbs is amazing. THe one guys who lost 38lbs. 38lbs?? can you imagine, thats mor than I want to lose and gosh, I f i could do that in one week, I'd be done, lol. But you lose more the bigger you are. Anyways, rant over. Do not over do it. I have learned that the hard way. One injury and you are sidelined for weeks.
