  2. Thanks C25k I just finished week5 day3 with 20 mins run, no walking in between, which was impossible 5 weeks before. However, I have a question, When I look at week6 day1 and day2 they reintroduce walk in between..why these two days have walk intervals after already establishing 20 mins continuous run on previous week? or there is a good reason they are intended that way?

  3. A few months ago I was found to have a congenital heart condition that required open heart surgery. I'm six weeks post op today and I've been cleared to do most activities as long as I monitor my heart rate and stop if things "hurt in a bad way." Because of the heart defect I had low oxygen saturation and poor circulation to my extremities. I got out of breath easily and stuff like that. I've always been fairly active, cross country skiing and hiking mountains and such, but running always eluded me. Nearly all the resources about getting active after heart surgery are aimed at people who weren't active before heart surgery (I mean, for obvious reasons, but still). I sort of feel like I'm going this alone. Even my cardiologist doesn't quite know what to do with me. I've been walking a ton (32,500 steps on Sunday, I'm really bored) and am going to very slowly attempt to add running in.

  4. As a young (ish) dad I'm doing this to ensure I have the energy to run around the parks and beaches with my little ones when they get older :-) Looking for people to share the long hard journey with! Good luck everyone.

Hi I'm new too. Im starting this program for the first time. I walk a lot, about 5 miles 5 days a week and I would like to start running. Figured this is the beat way to begin.

  9. Before I mention today's run I just want to say: what a brilliant app, I love it! Thank you very much I have been dreading Wk5D3 for some time, in fact, I put off this day for the last 4 days. I got to the point where I thought if I don't do it now, I never will. However, I read all the advice given on this forum and I decided to just get out and do it. I started my play list and reduced my pace . . . and then I ran! The voice said that I was half way, I thought that I feel ok, perhaps I can do it. When I heard the voice say that I had one minute left, I felt so good because I knew that I was going to complete it! At the end of the 20 mins running, the voice said and now start your cool down, but I carried on running. I thought I would try another minute so I counted to 60, then I did it again and then again. Next thing I knew the voice said that my session was complete . . . I had run for 25 minutes non-stop! I am so happy, there is no way that I thought that I could ever do it what I achieved today. I am a 46 year old, 17 stone (240lb) man that did not do any form of exercise until now. I am now looking forward to each run and I can't wait until my first organised 5km run. Dunc

  10. Thanks, y'all! The dr suggested hamstring stretches, and I'll do the squats too. I'm supposed to walk til the pain is gone, then go back to the program. So I'll be going really slowly, but it's better than nothing!
